Job description

About the Position

Ensemble Schools is seeking a fun, experienced, and professional substitute piano instructor to teach part-time at Pacific Piano School in San Jose, CA. We are looking for teachers who will instruct IN PERSON! The ability to teach additional instruments (such as voice or violin) is preferred but not required.

Substitute teachers can set their availability within our open hours as needed and will be called when regular teachers are out. Our school staff appreciate consistency and preference will be given to candidates with greater availability. The ability to advance to regular teacher is available depending on job performance and student demand.

Successful candidates will have a strong music background evidenced by a degree in piano performance (Bachelor's required, Master's preferred), pedagogy, performing experience, a demonstrated love of teaching, experience working with young musicians, a robust appreciation for punctuality, reliable transportation, and the ability to pass a routine background check. MTAC membership and/or Certificate of Merit experience preferred.

Instructor pay is commensurate with experience and will be in the range of $40-48/hour for private lessons. A 401(K) program with employer matching is available to all of our employees after 30 days on the job. Health benefits options are available for all part- and full-time employees at Ensemble.
