The MHS Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) program impacts students as they can learn a variety of instruments and easily can explore areas of interest or passion right here on campus. MHS is seeking an ancillary Choir Director 1st Assistant/Accompanist for: 5th/6th grade choir, 7th/8th grade choir, and a mixed grade select audition choir. Duties will include up to five rehearsals per week and multiple performances throughout the school year, including several school assemblies and weekend off-site performances. The Choir Assistant will support all responsibilities of the Choir Director and perform standard accompanist duties for the school choir. Additional duties may include small group piano lessons.
Rehearsals Hours: Monday through Friday - 6:45 am - 7:45 am. Performances: multiple scheduled performances throughout the school year, including 3 Sunday Chapel Services generally from 8:00 am - 10:00 am.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in music and previous piano experience.
  • Strong piano skills to play vocal parts and choir accompaniments.
  • At least 2 years of prior experience as an accompanist preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children & youth preferred.
  • Establishing year-round strategies and processes to train & invest in student skill development.
  • Availability to work throughout the school calendar year - August through June.
  • Candidates must demonstrate a high degree of integrity, as all MHS staff are role models for MHS students.
