Job description

Meadows Presbyterian Church in Charlottesville, VA, is now accepting applications for the part-time position of Choir Director/Church Musician, with an ideal start date in July or August 2026. Meadows is looking for an enthusiastic and collaborative leader to build our traditional music ministry and facilitate our growth as a “singing church.”

The Choir Director works directly with the Head Pastor, Praise Team Leader, and Worship Committee to plan and take active part in Sunday services and other special events. Primary duties include—

  • leading the adult vocal choir;
  • selecting and accompanying congregational hymns during Sunday service; and
  • encouraging other congregational musical activities (including, ideally, the handbell choir that plays for holidays).

Preferred qualifications include—

  • college-level study of music or other equivalent experience;
  • experience leading adult choirs in congregational settings;
  • proficient piano and organ skills; and
  • strong interpersonal and communication skills.

The Choir Director is a part-time employee with an anticipated initial salary between $16,900 ($325/week) and $19,500 ($375/week).
