About the position:
This position arranges field experience placements with school administrators for undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at Millersville University, and performs tasks to support the Professional Education Unit and the Office of Field Services.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work in close conjunction with school districts to secure appropriate field placements.
    • Record and maintain availability information on available cooperating teachers and placement information.
  • Supply information regarding inquiries of past and current field placements.
  • Coordinate visitation of courses with a field component at the beginning of each semester.
  • Work in close conjunction with faculty members within various departments, including the Professional Development School (PDS), to ensure the needs of the departments are met.
  • Work in close conjunction with Cooperating Teachers, and other District personnel providing information on assignments, teacher candidates, and University programs and procedures.
  • Work in close conjunction with University Supervisors, and other faculty, providing information and answering questions regarding placement assignments, relevant policies and procedures including but not limited to submission of student evaluations.
  • Work in close conjunction with Field Service colleagues on tasks such as maintaining a shared contact list and student status and eligibility.
    • Maintain overall close communication regarding all aspects of the field.
  • Maintain all necessary information on placements and distribute data to all relevant parties.
  • Attend school district meetings, as needed, with the coordinator to foster further partnership, establish new partnerships, and/or respond to issues or requests from school districts.
  • Assist and support University students with field related questions and concerns, and University processes.
  • Maintain a database of cooperating teacher payroll information.
  • Responsible to work with Accounts Payable to process checks and mail checks to cooperating teachers.
    • Including but not limited to PASSHE stipends and PHEAA stipends.
  • Responsible for student teaching orientation.
    • Develop, update and maintain online orientation each semester.
  • Create and maintain a database of student teaching absences to ensure students meet PDE student teaching requirements.
  • Schedule/attend alternate meetings for students who have been given permission to miss mandatory Field Service meetings.
  • Utilize University systems including, but not limited to, D2L, OnBase, Qualtrics, Microsoft Teams, Banner, and Max.
  • Assist students, relevant faculty, and various departments with non-traditional student teaching placements such as the Visiting Student Teacher Program, Student Teaching in Own Classroom, Online Completion Program and placements abroad.
  • Obtain data relevant to field placement on each student.
    • Utilize on-line resources that are compliant with university guidelines to gather and compile data.
    • Prepare reports regarding Field Services matters in response to requests from various sources.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the Field Services website and handbook to ensure accuracy of information.
  • Participate in staff meetings as scheduled by the Director of Field Services.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree OR equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Experience managing complex schedules using calendar management features.
  • Experience in taking clear and concise meeting minutes.
  • Demonstrated ability to:

  • Successful interview (Including Word and Excel tests).
  • Successful completion of three background checks.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in K-12 setting.
  • Familiarity with teacher education programs.
  • Experience using Banner and Argos Reports.
