The Director, Member Relations serves as the staff leader for ASHPโ€™s The Pharmacy Technician Society (TPTS), partnering with the TPTS Board of Directors to advance the organization's strategic priorities, member value proposition, professional practice initiatives, education programs, and advocacy efforts. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of TPTS, driving member engagement and growth, supporting governance activities, and fostering collaboration across ASHP and external stakeholders to advance the pharmacy technician profession.

This is a hybrid position that requires candidates to live in the Washington, DC area and be present in the downtown Bethesda, Maryland office as needed. At ASHP, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. The salary range for this position is $130,000-$160,000 and ASHP offers a comprehensive benefits plan. This salary range represents a reasonable estimate of the annual salary based on ASHPโ€™s commitment to provide equitable and market-competitive pay. The actual salary offered will take into consideration many factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge, educational background and licenses/certifications, skills and experience, internal pay equity, and other business and organizational needs. Governance & Board Support
  • Serve as the primary staff liaison to the TPTS Board of Directors and member committees
  • Lead governance operations, including elections, board meetings, policies, and committee management
  • Advise volunteer leaders on governance best practices and strategic priorities
  • Coordinate board orientation, planning, and leadership development activities
Strategic Planning & Operations
  • Facilitate development and execution of the TPTS strategic plan
  • Monitor progress toward strategic goals and key performance indicators
  • Manage day-to-day operations to ensure alignment with organizational objectives
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for Board consideration
Member Engagement & Growth
  • Develop and implement strategies to strengthen member recruitment, retention, and engagement
  • Identify emerging needs of pharmacy technicians and translate them into member programs and services
  • Foster meaningful volunteer involvement and leadership pathways
Programs & Professional Development
  • Lead development of educational programs, resources, and services that advance pharmacy technician practice

  • Evaluate program effectiveness and member satisfaction to drive continuous improvement
External Relations & Advocacy
  • Build relationships with professional associations, healthcare organizations, employers, educators, regulators, and other stakeholders
  • Advance initiatives supporting pharmacy technician professionalization and workforce development
  • Represent TPTS and ASHP at meetings, conferences, and other events
Financial Management
  • Assist in development, management, and monitoring of the TPTS budget
  • Ensure resources are aligned with strategic priorities and organizational goals
  • Licensed Pharmacist
  • Additional advanced degree preferred
  • Knowledge of the theories and standards of association management desired.
  • Requires a minimum of 5-10 years of progressively responsible professional experience in healthcare, professional associations, membership organizations, pharmacy practice, workforce development or related fields
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or partnering with boards of directors, committees, and volunteer leaders, including governance, strategic planning and organizational leadership
  • Proven success leading cross-functional initiatives, programs and stakeholder engagement efforts in complex organizational environments
  • Experience developing and implementing strategies that drive member engagement, recruitment, retention and volunteer participation
  • Experience managing projects, operational priorities and budgets with accountability for measurable outcomes
  • Knowledge of pharmacy practice, pharmacy technician workforce issues, healthcare education or professional development programs strongly preferred
  • Experience cultivating relationships with external stakeholders, professional societies, healthcare organizations, regulatory bodies and industry partners preferred
  • Previous association management experience and/or Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation desirable
