Job description
If you are passionate about the ability of American business to improve lives, solve problems, and strengthen society, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the place for you. As the world's largest business organization, we believe in building a future that gives everyone the opportunity to pursue a better tomorrow. We make it our job today-and every day-to build the strongest relationships possible among the American people, business leaders, and elected officials in Washington, D.C., state capitals, and countries around the globe. For them and the businesses we represent, the U.S. Chamber is a trusted advocate and partner.
We are driven by the pursuit of innovation and partnership and hold ourselves to the highest standards. Our commitment to our members is matched only by our commitment to our employees. As part of our team, we will support your long-term career development while delivering relevant learning opportunities. We will empower you to lead, develop deep expertise, and find new approaches to solving the toughest challenges.
Position Overview:
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Member Relations team is responsible for strengthening member retention and growth by delivering best-in-class member service, satisfaction, engagement, and experience. Within Member Relations, a dedicated "team within a team" leads a high-impact portfolio that includes Member Relations events, executive membership communities, member communications, and team enablement-including operations, systems, processes, and standard operating procedures.
The ideal candidate will provide essential coordination, administrative, logistical, and project support across this portfolio, with a primary focus on helping plan and execute Member Relations events and convenings. The role will support member communications, executive communities, internal operations, and team processes as needed.
This is an entry-level opportunity for a highly organized, proactive, service-minded individual who is eager to learn, comfortable working in a fast-paced and evolving environment, and ready to help wherever necessary. The candidate brings strong attention to detail, sound judgment, a can-do attitude, curiosity, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while supporting a team that plays a central role in delivering high-value experiences for U.S. Chamber members.
Responsibilities:
Event and Convening Support
- Support the planning and execution of Member Relations events, executive convenings, briefings, roundtables, receptions, and other member-facing programs.
- Assist with core event logistics, including guest list management, invitations, RSVPs, registration support, room holds, calendar invites, name badges, tent cards, briefing materials, and day-of materials.
- Help prepare and maintain event timelines, checklists, run-of-show documents, and internal planning trackers.
- Coordinate with internal partners, including Events, Communications, Creative, Policy Centers, Operations, Finance, and other Chamber teams, to help ensure that details are organized and deadlines are met.
- Support on-site and virtual event execution, helping ensure that member touchpoints are professional, timely, and consistent with Chambe standards for senior executive experiences.
- Assist with post-event follow-up, including thank-you notes, recap materials, attendance tracking, and internal debrief support.
Member Relations Events Calendar and Project Coordination
- Help maintain the Member Relations events calendar, including key dates, deadlines, planning milestones, and internal dependencies.
- Track open items, next steps, and deliverables across multiple events and workstreams.
- Help flag risks, timing conflicts, missing information, and follow-up needs early so that the team can stay coordinated and responsive.
- Support recurring team planning meetings by preparing agendas, taking notes, capturing action items, and following up on outstanding tasks.
- Maintain shared planning documents, project plans, trackers, and checklists to help the team stay organized and aligned.
Executive Membership Communities Support
- Provide coordination support for the Chamber's executive membership communities and related member engagement activities.
- Assist with scheduling, calendar coordination, participant tracking, preparation of materials, and follow-up for community meetings, advisory groups, roundtables, and related programs.
- Help keep information organized across communities, including participation records, member preferences, and engagement history.
- Support the preparation of agendas, speaker materials, briefing documents, and background information for internal leaders and member-facing programs.
- Help ensure that community-related activities are well coordinated with broader Member Relations priorities and member engagement goals.
Member Communications Support
- Assist with drafting, formatting, routing, and sending member-facing communications, including save-the-dates, invitations, confirmations, reminders, logistics notes, and follow-up messages.
- Coordinate with Communications, Creative, and Member Relations colleagues to help ensure that materials are accurate, polished, timely, and aligned with Chamber standards.
- Help maintain communication calendars, distribution lists, templates, and tracking documents.
- Support internal review processes for member-facing materials and help ensure that edits, approvals, and final versions are captured accurately.
- Assist with post-event communications, including thank-you messages, recap emails, follow-up actions, and related member touchpoints.
Team Enablement, Operations, and Process Support
- Help organize and maintain shared folders, templates, trackers, standard operating procedures, and team resources.
- Support the development and improvement of repeatable processes for pre-event planning, day-of execution, post-event follow-up, member communications, and internal coordination.
- Assist with basic operational tasks related to systems, processes, data entry, document management, and team administration.
- Help ensure that information is easy to find, up to date, and consistently maintained across the team's workstreams.
- Support internal reporting, summaries, and status updates that help the team track activity, identify needs, and improve execution over time.
- Take on special projects and ad hoc assignments to support the broader Member Relations team.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with colleagues across Member Relations and other Chamber departments to support member-facing programs and internal team priorities.
- Serve as a reliable coordination point for logistics, schedules, materials, and follow-up items.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with internal stakeholders and, as appropriate, external member contacts.
- Demonstrate a service-oriented mindset by helping colleagues, members, and partners navigate details smoothly and efficiently.
- Contribute to a team culture built on accountability, responsiveness, flexibility, and continuous improvement.
Additional Details
- Some early morning, evening, and occasional travel may be required in connection with events and in-person member convenings.
- The position will support a portfolio that includes events, executive membership communities, member communications, and team enablement.

Experience
- Bachelor's degree and 1-2 years of relevant membership, fundraising, or sales support experience.
- Entry-level professional experience, internship experience, campus leadership, volunteer coordination, event support, administrative support, customer service, membership support, communications support, or related experience is preferred.

Organization and Prioritization
- Strong organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and competing priorities.
- Comfortable using checklists, trackers, calendars, project plans, and shared documents to stay organized.
- Able to follow through reliably and keep work moving without needing extensive reminders.
Communication and Professionalism
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to draft clear, concise, and professional emails and internal updates.
- Professional, responsive, and service-oriented when communicating with colleagues, members, and partners.
- Sound judgment and discretion when handling member information, internal materials, and senior-level interactions.
Adaptability and Mindset
- Comfortable working in an environment where priorities may shift and not every answer is immediately clear.
- Willing to ask smart questions, learn quickly, and take initiative.
- Positive, flexible, and solutions-oriented, with a genuine can-do attitude.
- Curious how the Chamber serves its members and eager to understand the broader goals behind its work.
- Willing to pitch in where needed and take ownership of both large and small tasks.
Collaboration and Teamwork
- Strong team player who enjoys working across functions.
- Ability to coordinate inputs from multiple people and help keep others aligned.
- Service-minded, dependable, and comfortable supporting behind-the-scenes work that enables high-quality member experiences.
- Able to bring energy, humility, and a willingness to learn.
Technical and Administrative Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Comfortable learning new systems, databases, project management tools, and internal processes.
- Ability to maintain accurate records, update trackers, organize files, and manage details consistently.
- Experience with Salesforce, event platforms, registration tools, or email marketing systems is a plus.
