Global Competitive Intelligence Director 

Position Overview:

The GSI Competitive Insights (CI) Director is a key member of the cross functional GSI team directly supporting Product Teams in developing and executing the global commercialization and brand strategy for Bayer pharmaceutical assets and brands. They will serve as the competitive intelligence subject matter expert for brands/assets with clear relevance to the product team on missions to address business issues, critical launch activities, and support forecast development with future landscape perspective.

This role will proactively monitor and synthesize the competitive environment, analyzing threats and opportunities, and working with cross functional partners to provide insights to help guide the short- and long-term strategy of Bayer assets and brands. As a member of the Global Strategic Insights cluster, you will collaborate with others on missions to enhance cluster capabilities, develop tools/systems/approaches to enhance impact and/or efficiency of the cluster.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Globally monitor, benchmark, analyze and interpret the full range of current and future competitors to provide an early warning for potential threats and opportunities for successful implementation to prioritized strategic initiatives and plans for assigned portfolio assets/brands
  • Translate business issues and situations into competitive intelligence plans, KITs/KIQs and budget requirements, and lead competitive workshops with the core product team, key markets, and cross functional colleagues; works with CI colleagues to ensure CI coverage at major conferences and to deliver interpretation and forward-looking implications of competitor developments
  • Ensure effective utilization of competitive intelligence; provides timely, actionable, unbiased, and fact-based competitive insights, benchmarking, and recommendations regarding commercialization strategies in the CI context
  • Contribute to demand forecasting missions by ensuring a comprehensive, aligned and well-articulated set of competitive and market environment assumptions that tie directly to forecast scenarios are developed and monitored; ensure that product business cases are updated as actual events materialize
  • Rigorously apply the Company's standards of ethics and policies for intelligence gathering - ensuring the effective implementation and integrity of all competitive and business intelligence activities
  • Independently or in collaboration with other cluster members (and cross-functional partners) to enhance CI, epidemiology (commercial applications) tools and capabilities or other GSI domain for the Bayer pharma sector

WHO YOU ARE:

Required:

  • MBA or other advanced degree in fields such as Business Administration, Health Care administration, Marketing or Life Sciences
  • Minimum of 8 years leadership experience in Insights and Analytics teams with at least 6 years in the pharmaceutical competitive intelligence
  • Excellent communication, planning and organizational skills, ability to influence at all levels within Bayer and communicate complex analytical outputs and insights to a non-technical audience
  • Sound knowledge Bayer's product and pipeline portfolio/therapeutic areas (or a demonstrated ability to rapidly develop acumen across new brands therapeutic areas), market access approach and other relevant healthcare domains
  • Strong competency in the application of competitive intelligence with a demonstrated impact on drug program development or business planning; proficiency in at least one other domain of the Global Strategic Insights cluster: forecasting, business performance assessment, insights synthesis, multi-country primary research in a range of methods or areas of focus
  • Substantial pharmaceutical industry experience in at least one specific country role

Preferred:

  • prior global experience strongly preferred
  • oncology experience

In the US, employees can expect to be paid a salary between $175,360.00 and $263,040.00.  Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc... This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
