Job description

Redwood Credit Union is seeking a Personal Lines Agent who will provide insurance, risk advice and education concerning insurance coverage and planning, while performing a wide variety of duties, selling new insurance policies, servicing personal lines accounts, handling policy renewals, managing leads provided and following up in a timely manner. Ability to travel to assigned branches and other locations is required.
Key Responsibilities
Advisory Services:
o Proactively review Member financial information and make recommendations on insurance coverage needs.
o Provide individualized advice and counsel based on specific client (and prospect) needs.
o Use independent judgment to provide professional advice and recommendations concerning insurance policies that best meet Members' needs and financial circumstances.
o In providing counsel, use a fact finding and profiling process that ensures all needs and possible scenarios are considered in recommendations. Identify all financial information needed to provide consultation and communicate accordingly with prospects and existing clients.
o Demonstrate personal lines expertise in advising prospects and existing clients based on the nuances and influencing factors. When recommending the appropriate policies and products, do so while minimizing risk and maximizing sales and service requirements.
o Educate and advise Members on advantages and disadvantages of various insurance products, insurance philosophies and risk management strategies.
o Provide exceptional customer service to all internal and external customers.
o Provide ongoing training and education to internal partners regarding insurance products, philosophies, and sales processes.
o Analyze situations and recommend workable solutions for customers.
o Perform ongoing management of personal lines book(s) of business, policy reviews, policy renewals, risk management and ongoing client consultation.
o Be familiar with ratings and influencing factors when providing quotes to prospects and existing clients.
o Negotiate and obtain the best price and overall protection for clients based on the information provided by the Member.
Sales & Administration:
o Cross-sell our book of business and identify opportunities that should be referred back to the Credit Union based on their financial situation.
o Handle policy maintenance procedures in a timely manner (new policies, renewals, changes, etc.) within the agency management system.
o Process all new business, renewal business, etc. in personal lines department in a timely manner, and manage all leads in accordance with RCUSG standards and expectations.
o Produce new insurance policies with quality and thoroughness by following RCUIS processes and procedures.
o Report all claims to the appropriate carrier, and follow-up and intervene when necessary to ensure claims are processed in a satisfactory manner.
o Complete daily, weekly and monthly lead and sales tracking reports as requested.
o Provide assistance to RCU Insurance Services team members in achieving sales and service goals.

Minimum Qualification: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of financial and insurance products and services.
  • Thorough knowledge of personal lines markets, coverage, rating procedures and industry operations.
  • Ability to develop rapport with prospects, existing clients, and other RCU/RCUSG staff.
  • Skilled in the operation of personal computers, software and printers.

Licenses and Certifications
  • Must have an active Property & Casualty Insurance Agent/Broker's License.

The ideal candidate has a combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in business administration, finance or closely related field preferred, with a minimum of three years of insurance industry experience.
Compensation: Base starting range: $70,304 annually + commission commensurate with experience.
Our base salary starting range is based on scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, and internal peer equity.
