Who this is for
This role is for the developer who's tired of being a ticket-taker. Tired of fighting through three layers of project managers to ship a single page. Tired of pushing for a performance fix and watching it die in a backlog. Tired of doing the best work of your career inside an agency where the client never even learns your name.
You'll work directly with the founder. When you see something on the site that's slow, broken, or underperforming, you can fix it. When you have a strong opinion about how to architect something, you'll be heard. The website is your domain. You own it, you ship it, you make it better every week.
If you love rolling up your sleeves and shipping work every day, this is for you. If you want to lead a team or build strategy from 30,000 feet, this isn't.
About us
We're a residential plumbing company based in Orange County, California. We've built a strong brand serving homeowners across Southern California, and we're investing heavily in organic growth. This role is a key part of that investment.
Your first project: site rebuild
Your first major project is leading the rebuild of doitrightplumbers.com on our existing stack (WordPress, Hello Elementor, Elementor Pro, WP Engine, Cloudflare). Not a content refresh. A ground-up rebuild focused on performance, conversion, and a scalable component system that supports rapid landing page production.
Scope includes migration planning with zero SEO loss, a reusable component library, Core Web Vitals targets met before launch, full GTM and GA4 rebuilt cleanly, and schema implementation across the new site. After launch, you transition into ongoing ownership.
What you'll own
  • Website development. Building and maintaining our WordPress site, shipping new landing pages, location pages, and service pages on demand. Expected publishing cadence after launch: 3 to 5 new pages per week using the component library.
  • Page speed and Core Web Vitals. This is the heart of the role. LCP, INP, CLS, PageSpeed scores. Continuous monitoring, image optimization, script auditing, caching strategy. Slow pages are not acceptable.
  • Cloudflare and WP Engine. Cache rules, page rules, security settings, firewall configuration, staging environments, plugin audits, security updates. You own the platform, not just the pages.
  • Schema implementation. The SEO specialist defines schema strategy. You handle JSON-LD implementation, structured data testing, deployment, and validation across LocalBusiness, Service, FAQPage, Review, and BreadcrumbList types.
  • Analytics and attribution. GTM, GA4, conversion tracking across Google Ads, Bing, Facebook, Reddit, and WhatConverts. When tracking breaks, you diagnose and fix it. Attribution is a craft, not an afterthought.
  • Technical SEO foundation. Sitemaps, robots.txt, crawl budget, canonicals, 301 redirects, indexation issues, Search Console error resolution.
  • Conversion rate optimization. Continuous A/B testing on hero sections, forms, CTAs, and page layouts.
  • Mobile-first development and accessibility. Most of our customers convert on mobile. Every page is built mobile-first. WCAG 2.1 AA compliance expected.

How you work with the team
You'll partner closely with our Senior SEO Specialist. They own the strategy (content, link building, schema specs, internal linking strategy). You own the technical surface that brings it to life. Daily Slack collaboration, weekly working session, clean handoff process.
You'll also have a weekly working session with our CMO and direct access to the founder. No agency layer. No buried management chain.
What you need to have
  • 5+ years of hands-on web development experience. You've shipped real work and you can prove it.
  • Deep WordPress and Elementor Pro fluency. You build in Elementor every day and know its limits.
  • PHP fluency. You can write custom functions, build custom post types, and modify themes when Elementor isn't enough.
  • Real Cloudflare and WP Engine experience. You've configured cache rules, firewalls, staging environments, and managed production sites end to end.
  • Real attribution and analytics chops. GTM, GA4, conversion tracking across multiple ad platforms. You can debug a broken pixel.
  • Schema implementation expertise. JSON-LD, structured data testing, the technical knowledge to deploy and validate.
  • Page speed obsession. You can walk us through specific optimizations you made and the before/after metrics that resulted.
  • Site migration experience. You've led at least one full WordPress rebuild without losing rankings, conversions, or tracked attribution.
  • Home services or local business website experience. This is a must. We want people who've shaped real local businesses, not Fortune 500 division work.
  • Strong written English and Pacific Time Zone hours. We're not interested in candidates who plan to flip their schedule for this role.

A note on how we work
This is a 100% remote role. We don't use monitoring software and we don't micromanage. We trust our team to do excellent work and communicate proactively. That trust runs both ways. Show up, take ownership, operate with high integrity.
This role is full-time. Not a side gig. Your full attention during business hours is part of what we're paying for.
Hours and compensation
  • Full-time, 100% remote
  • Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific Time
  • One-hour lunch and two 10-minute breaks
  • $2,500 to $4,000 USD per month, DOE.
  • Independent contractor through our global payroll partner

How to apply
To be considered, submit both:
  1. Your resume through this BambooHR posting

Applications without a completed video will not be reviewed. Resume alone is not enough.
Finalists will be asked for a custom screen-share video walking through their actual workflow and 2 to 3 live WordPress sites they've built. That's the deep dive. The HireFlix video is the gate.
