Job description

JOB SUMMARY & SCOPE
Responsible for ensuring the proper functioning and maintenance of a facility's physical infrastructure. This includes conducting routine inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance tasks to keep the facility in optimal condition. The role requires a combination of technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach to address issues promptly.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify any issues or potential hazards.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including but not limited to, HVAC system checks, plumbing inspections, electrical system checks, and lighting system maintenance.
  • Respond promptly to repair requests and address issues related to building systems and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other building systems.
  • Maintain and repair machinery, tools, and equipment used in facility operations.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for specialized equipment maintenance or repairs.
  • Act swiftly in response to emergency situations, such as power outages, plumbing leaks, or other critical incidents.
  • Implement emergency procedures and collaborate with other staff to ensure the safety of occupants.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment inspections.
  • Document any changes made to building systems and update maintenance logs.
  • Coordinate with other departments or external contractors to address specific maintenance needs.
  • Communicate effectively with building occupants to understand and address their concerns.
  • Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and standards.
  • Identify potential safety hazards and take appropriate measures to mitigate risks.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels of maintenance supplies and equipment.
  • Procure necessary supplies and materials for maintenance tasks.

EDUCATION + EXPERIENCE + KEY TRAITS
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in facilities maintenance is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Facilities Maintenance Technician or similar role.
  • Knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and protocols.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Availability for on-call duties or emergency response.
