King Kamehameha Kona Beach Resort Courtyard by Marriott currently has an opening for a talented Full Time PBX to share the aloha spirit and strive to create a memorable guest experience.

Brief Summary of Job: Handles incoming, interoffice and outgoing calls while providing the highest level of service possible in an efficient, courteous and professional manner by following Marriott standards of hospitality and adhering to guidelines and procedures. Assists Front Desk in communicating with guests and dispatching those requests to other hotel departments.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the job include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor at all times, while providing personalized service to guests.
  • Communicate effectively with guests and fellow team members.
  • Accommodate guests by making them feel welcome, informed, and cared for during the entire length of their stay.
  • Anticipate and respond to guest needs.
  • Operation of the PBX console.
  • Answer phones according to service standards and within 3 rings.
  • May take messages over the phone.
  • Lends assistance and handles emergencies by phone.
  • Maintains records and makes reports as required.
  • Be knowledgeable about daily hotel operations, check daily event sheet, bulletin boards and be up to date with all changes, new procedures and events.
  • Find solutions quickly, and confidently address and resolve guest concerns.
  • Full understanding of the Front Desk system for all guest services.
  • Provide assistance to other team members and departments to contribute to the best overall performance of the department, restaurant and hotel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management.
  • Act as Front Office dispatch center for radio calls to other departments and receiving desk for calls into Front Desk
  • Log all guests requests and defects in GXP.
  • Complete follow up calls to guest rooms for guests defects.

Knowledge/Education/Experience: One (1) year experience Hotel PBX or front office experience required. Ability to speak multiple languages preferred. High school or equivalent education.

Skills/Abilities/Other Requirements: English speaking or bilingual. Ability to make timely, effective decisions. Ability to prioritize, organize and complete work assignments. Ability to maintain good team member relations. Ability to develop and maintain effective guest relations. Ability to provide effective communications, both verbal and written. Ability to prioritize, organize and make good judgments. Strong problem solving ability. Strong attention to detail. Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations. Dependable.
