Job description

We are looking for a Payroll Clerk to support payroll operations and human resources activities for a manufacturing organization in Indiana. This role is responsible for ensuring employees are paid accurately and on schedule while helping maintain compliance with applicable payroll and employment regulations. The ideal candidate brings strong communication skills, sound judgment, and hands-on experience managing payroll processes across multiple states.
Responsibilities:
• Administer biweekly payroll processing and verify payroll data is submitted accurately and on time.
• Review employee pay records and apply updates related to hires, separations, compensation changes, benefit deductions, tax withholdings, and garnishments.
• Monitor payroll practices to ensure alignment with federal, state, and local wage and hour requirements.
• Partner with the Human Resources Manager to support personnel-related processes and uphold company policies and regulatory standards.
• Prepare and maintain payroll documentation, records, and related reports with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
• Respond to payroll questions from employees and management, investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues efficiently.
• Stay current on payroll regulations and industry practices through ongoing development.
• Contribute to additional payroll and HR-related tasks as needed to support business operations.• Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll administration.
• Practical experience handling full-cycle payroll from data review through final processing.
• Background supporting payroll for employee populations ranging from approximately 101 to 500 employees.
• Working knowledge of payroll deductions, including garnishments and tax-related withholdings.
• Familiarity with multi-state payroll laws and compliance requirements.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive information with discretion.
