Job description

We are looking for a Payroll Associate to work with Strive's Payroll Lead and support all aspects of the payroll cycle for Strive employees. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys managing payroll accurately through innovative, compliant, and efficient solutions. At Strive, we believe payroll is more than just getting people paid-it's about building trust, ensuring fairness, and supporting our team. If you're excited about preparing multi-state payroll, supporting all aspects of the payroll function, and making a real impact, we'd love to meet you! This is a hybrid position based in Denver, CO with an expectation to work onsite at our headquarters two days per week to collaborate, connect, and enjoy the energy of our office culture. Candidates should be located within a commutable distance to our Denver-based HQ.

Essential Functions 

  • Payroll Processing
    • Prepare accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly, multi-state payroll for 800+ salaried and hourly employees across the United States
    • Process off-cycle payrolls including final pay, bonuses, and adjustments
    • Ensure all hours, incentives, and pay are correctly entered and calculated
    • Support employee questions regarding pay, tax forms, and related topics by answering questions and resolving payroll-related issues in a timely and professional manner 
  • Deductions & Compliance
    • Assist with all payroll deductions, including benefits, garnishments, and other withholdings
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations
    • Assist with payroll tax registrations and filings in new and existing counties and states 
  • Reporting & Auditing
    • Maintain accurate payroll records to ensure compliance with company policy and internal controls 
    • Generate recurring and ad hoc payroll reports (weekly, bi-monthly, monthly, annual, etc.)
    • Perform audits and data validations to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance
    • Collaborate with Strive's HR and Accounting teams to ensure aligned and efficient processes 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience of reviewing end-to-end multi-state payroll data for accuracy, identifying discrepancies and maintaining data integrity
  • Strong knowledge of payroll laws, taxes, and compliance standards
  • Experience with employee benefits, retirement contribution plans, and handling garnishments/ levies
  • Strong understanding of payroll fundamentals, compliance, and best practices  
  • Internet Connectivity - Min Speeds: 3.8Mbps/3.0Mbps (up/down): Latency <60ms."
  • Ability to travel and be on-site to meet business needs. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Strong background in Microsoft excel
  • Experience with Rippling, Netsuite
  • Working towards Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP), CPP or equivalent payroll designation
  • Experience with payroll audits and reconciliation (including year-end)

Annual Salary Range: $65,000 - $77,000. This position is also eligible for a target annual bonus of 5%
