The Position
Our bank client is seeking to fill a Payroll Specialist role in the Brookfield, WI area. The position is responsible for all payroll processing activities, oversees a team of Payroll Advisors and Coordinators, and ensures daily operations run smoothly and efficiently. You'll assist with client setups, lead ancillary service upgrades, support escalated client calls, and collaborate with software vendors to resolve issues. Your ability to identify and implement process improvements will help drive our team's continued success.
This position offers a competitive salary of up to $60K and a full benefits package. (This is not a remote position)
Payroll Specialist responsibilities include:
  • ensures accurate, timely employee compensation and tax compliance by managing timesheets, deductions, and payroll systems. process paychecks, reconcile records, and answer employee queries, acting as a crucial link between HR and finance. Key roles require high attention to detail, confidentiality, and technical proficiency in payroll software.

  • Payroll Processing: Process accurate payroll on regular cycles (weekly, biweekly) for employees, including processing manual checks and managing direct deposits.
  • Data Maintenance: Maintain accurate payroll records, including updating salary changes, deductions, benefits, and employee tax withholdings (W-4).
  • Compliance & Reporting: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, including preparing 941 filings, W-2s, and unemployment taxes.
  • Inquiry Resolution: Act as the primary point of contact for employee questions regarding pay, deductions, or payroll errors.
  • Reconciliation & Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll reports, and perform general ledger reconciliations.
  • System Management: Utilize payroll software (e.g., ADP, Ceridian, Kronos) to process information, troubleshoot issues, and ensure data integrity.
