Job Description
The Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is one of the largest pediatric cancer and blood disorders programs in the country. We care for children and young adults with a wide range of cancer and blood disorders-from the most common to those rarely seen outside of the top centers. We are searching for a high performing, collaborative leader to serve as the Manager, Patient Access, overseeing access operations for the center located at the Arthur M. Blank Hospital.
In this role, you will oversee daily patient access operations, including registration, scheduling, and front-end revenue cycle processes, to ensure a seamless, compassionate experience for patients and families. You will lead efforts to optimize clinic schedules and templates, referral intake, pre-visit workflows, and coordination of complex, multidisciplinary appointments and procedures. In this role, you will monitor and improve access metrics and drive operational efficiency for the assigned clinics and programs within the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center.
As a key operational leader, the Manager, Patient Access will support high-volume, high-acuity outpatient and inpatient services, including infusion, procedural areas, and multidisciplinary clinics. You will collaborate with clinical and administrative leaders to support an evolving strategic plan, including new programs, expanded services, and innovative care models that ensure timely, equitable access to life-saving care for children with cancer and blood disorders.
Experience

  • 5 years of experience in a supervisory role
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in health care patient access setting
Education
  • Bachelor's degree or 10 years of Patient Access supervisory experience in lieu of degree
Certification Summary

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must be able to supervise and coordinate patient registration and financial services operations
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication ability
  • Must be able to train and supervise personnel and work well with other hospital department and leaders
  • Must have strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Must be able to apply basic verbal and non-verbal communication to identify and reduce patient and family/friends anxiety and concerns
  • Competency in Microsoft Office; advanced Excel skills are required
  • Experience with Epic SlicerDicer, Qlik, or Power BI is preferred as these tools will be used to pull reports, analyze trends, view metrics, and identify root causes for process improvement.
Job Responsibilities
  • Uses appropriate all statistical and financial reports as tools to analyze and direct departmental operations.
  • Maintains quality control programs, including reviews of work performed by staff as well as denial information as appropriate in-Patient Access department.
  • Orients and provides in-services and training, continuing education, and development to all persons in Patient Access department.
  • Recommends space and other services needed by Patient Access department.
  • Determines qualifications and competence of Patient Access department staff members.
  • Allocates staff to quickly respond to volume and patient/family needs.
  • Tracks volumes and turnaround times to ensure ongoing attention to timely processing.
  • Supports the mission, vision, and values of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and the department.
  • Monitors staffing expense and adjusts staffing levels, as appropriate to meet patient demand consistent with departmental budget.
  • Responsible for all aspects of managing and leading a team including: interviewing, hiring, training, developing, directing work and processes, managing performance, recognizing, and rewarding employees.
  • Mentor team members to encourage personal and professional growth.
  • Encourage ongoing skill development by providing opportunities for continued education.
