About the Jewish Federation of Detroit:
As the primary instrument of Jewish philanthropy and engagement in the Detroit area, we are a community-driven organization committed to taking care of the needs of the Jewish people and building a vibrant Jewish future, in Detroit, in Israel and around the world.
About the Community Relations Team:
The Community Relations team within the Jewish Federation of Detroit focuses on interfaith bridge building, advocating for the interests of the Jewish community in media and with elected officials, and combatting antisemitism.
The Community Relations Associate will report to the Director of Community Relations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage event bookings, catering, set-up, staff and partner coordination, guest lists and other details for Community Relations events.
  • Draft agendas, meeting minutes, meeting reminders, follow-ups for committee meetings and programs.
  • Provide programmatic and administrative support for all Community Relations initiatives and Federation-led partnerships with other faith communities.
  • Manage recruitment, admissions, and communications with participants for student programs.
  • Document key programs and outcomes for grant reporting.
  • Manage event data, including attendees, surveys, and staff debriefs.
  • Manage department newsletters.
  • Track, update, and manage department budgets.
  • Assist department staff with planning and execution of student educational trips and other travel.
  • Assist department staff with research, media and legislative monitoring, correspondence and other support as needed.
  • Draft well-written communications materials including stakeholder outreach, press materials, talking points, newsletters, meeting agendas, program materials and other content.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in community outreach, program management, or a similar role is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort with and ability to interact effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience with event planning and execution is a plus.
  • Knowledge of public relations or government relations is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • A passion for building relationships and making a positive impact.
  • Ability to independently manage program planning, logistics and facilitation.
