Description
The Public Safety Department has a part-time staff position for an Emergency Telecommunications Operator. Emergency Communication Center works 24/7 and is looking for an individual who is flexible and able to work all shifts and be able to fill in for vacation and sick days. The Emergency Telecommunications Operator is responsible for controlling traffic onto campus and greeting people in a courteous and friendly manner in person and on the telephone. Responsible for monitoring all alarms for the entire facility, dispatching operations and perform various essential data entry. Perform a multitude of simultaneous tasks in a fast-paced, high-stress environment. Utilize computer equipment and specialized computer programs.
Required Qualifications:
Basic computer skills and the ability to become an Association of Public Safety Communications Official (APCO) certified as a Public Safety Telecommunicator 1. Must be able to type a minimum of 20 words per minute.
Education and Experience: A high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two years experience working with the general public.
