TEEN SERVICESSPECIALIST

(Non-exempt)

Part-time


Schedule: Part-time 18hrs. a week

  • Monday 4-8pm
  • Tuesday 4-8pm
  • Friday 4-9pm
  • Saturday 1-6pm

As aTeen ServicesSpecialist,you will be part ofa team that helps young people in middle and high schoolexplore interests,learn, and grow.You'llprovidea welcoming and supportive environment in the Teen Room,connectpatrons to library resources, andrespondtothe needs and requests of teens in the library.

WhatYou'llDo

  • Staff the library's 6th-12thgrade Teen Room andmaintaina supportive environment while responding to readers' advisory and other requests
  • Promote and help teens navigate library resources and services
  • Provide friendly, responsive customer service to all library patrons
  • Offer personalized reading and viewing recommendations
  • Answer basic informational questions andassistwith library resources
  • Helpmaintainlibrary displays
  • Collaborate with colleagues on programs, outreach, and special projects

Minimum Qualifications

  • Some college coursework, an associate degree, or equivalent experience
  • Experience providing direct service to teens in grades 6-12, such as in education or in teen engagement (e.g., afterschool or extracurricular programs)

Working Conditions

This position involves both desk and active work, including standing, walking, lifting materials, and frequent computer use. Availability for days, evenings, and weekends may berequired.
