This is a heartwarming opportunity for compassionate providers who love making a difference! We work with members throughout Wisconsin to find providers that fit each of their needs. Our goal is to help individuals be in more control of their own supports and to have a say in who is assisting them. This helps them to stay in their own homes as long as possible.
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and confident Teen Respite Provider to support a teenager who experiences emotional regulation challenges and occasional aggressive behaviors. The ideal candidate will have experience using de-escalation strategies, trauma-informed care approaches, and maintaining a calm, supportive presence during heightened emotional situations. We are looking for someone dependable, emotionally mature, and confident to support teens with complex behavioral and emotional needs while building a positive, trusting relationship. If this sounds like you, we'd love to connect!
Location: Out in the Local Community or Your Home
Schedule: Every Other Weekend, Friday-Sunday
Compensation: $512/Weekend or $256/Overnight
Opportunity to build on additional hours at $17.66/Hour
Key Responsibilities
This role involves providing supervision, structure, and individualized support to promote the teen's safety, and well-being while offering caregivers scheduled relief and peace of mind. The provider should be comfortable setting clear, consistent boundaries and responding thoughtfully to challenging behaviors with patience, professionalism, and empathy.
Additional responsibilities include maintaining appropriate supervision, supporting healthy social interactions and personal boundaries, and ensuring a safe and respectful environment at all times. Experience working with youth who require close behavioral monitoring and redirection is strongly preferred.
• Provide one-on-one respite care in the community and/or your home
• Maintain a safe, structured, and respectful environment
• Redirect behavior using positive behavior support strategies
• Assist with daily activities as appropriate (meals, medication supervision, homework, leisure activities)
• Monitor for triggers and early warning signs of escalation
• Follow established behavior support plans and safety protocols
• Communicate effectively with caregivers regarding behaviors, progress, and concerns
• Document incidents or notable behaviors as required
Required Qualifications
• Experience working with teens who exhibit aggression, emotional dysregulation, or behavioral challenges
• Demonstrated knowledge of de-escalation techniques (verbal calming, redirection, emotional validation)
• Ability to remain calm, patient, and non-reactive during challenging situations
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Dependable, punctual, and professional
• Ability to follow behavior plans and caregiver instructions
Why This Role Matters
Make a real difference by helping a child feel safe, supported, and seen. Join this family as a steady, caring presence in their child's life and positively impact his daily experiences.
