Job Title Part Time - Veterinary Technology Instructor Location Yuba College - Marysville, CA. Job Description
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The person selected will be expected to:
  • Organize and teach assigned lectures and laboratory courses in the veterinary technology curriculum offered at Yuba College
  • Prepare students to become eligible to take national board examinations and work as practicing Registered Veterinary Technicians
  • Prepare and complete course syllabi and outlines
  • Facilitate student learning by working to develop every student's ability and by designing varied and motivating learning environments, which may include distance learning
  • Work with other related departments if necessary
Essential Duties Summary Required Qualifications
REQUIRED DUTIES:
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • The successful candidate, by the final filing date, must possess the minimum qualifications for an AVMA accredited school:

The instructor must meet the following minimum requirements:
  • (A) Be a registered veterinary technician in the state of California. The registration shall be current, valid, and free from restrictions due to disciplinary action by the California Veterinary Medical Board or any other health care regulatory agency
  • (B) An associate's or higher degree in veterinary technology from an AVMA-accredited educational institution;
  • Training, certification, or experience in teaching the subject matter of the course; or
  • (D) At least four years' experience in an area related to the subject matter of the course.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous teaching, employment, or student experiences that provide the candidate with the ability to successfully teach veterinary technology
  • Understanding of the needs of a diverse student population as they relate to the mission of the Yuba Community College District
  • Knowledge and/or experience in related disciplines such as biochemistry, biology, agriculture, animal science, or chemistry
  • Experience supervising and/or working with a diverse student population
  • Background in the use of computers or technology in the classroom/laboratory. Previous teaching experience utilizing distributive education (interactive television, online, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of html authoring tools and managing on-line media supported curriculum
  • Experience with both small and livestock/farm animals preferred
Physical Demands Range/Step Class I - VII (Based on degree and teaching experience). Salary Range Step 1: $1,558.22 - Step 7: $2,609.76 per unit. Benefits Information

The Yuba Community College District is seeking qualified candidates for this part-time, temporary (Adjunct) faculty position. Part-time instructor positions are filled as needed through ongoing recruitment. Applicants are contacted and hired year-round based on college needs. This pool is open continuously and refreshed every two years.

Applicants in this pool will remain active for two years. After two years applicants will receive an email with information on how to remain in the pool.
