What is part time roofing sales?

Part time roofing sales jobs involve selling roofing products or services on a flexible or reduced-hour schedule. Employees in these roles typically identify potential clients, provide estimates, explain roofing options, and close sales, all while working fewer hours than a standard full-time salesperson. This position is ideal for those who want to supplement their income, have other commitments, or are looking to gain experience in the roofing or sales industry. Part time roofing sales reps often work for roofing companies, contractors, or as independent agents, and may earn commission in addition to a base wage.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time roofing sales professional?

To thrive as a Part Time Roofing Sales professional, you need strong sales skills, knowledge of roofing products and services, and preferably experience in construction or home improvement industries. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) software, estimating tools, and digital communication platforms is often required. Exceptional interpersonal skills, resilience, and the ability to build trust quickly set high performers apart. These competencies ensure you effectively generate leads, close deals, and provide solutions that meet customer needs in a competitive market.

What are some typical challenges faced in part time roofing sales, and how can they be managed?

Part-time roofing sales professionals often face challenges such as managing their schedules around peak customer availability, staying up-to-date with product knowledge, and building trust with clients in a limited timeframe. Success in this role often requires strong time management skills, proactive communication with the installation team, and continuous learning about roofing materials and industry standards. Additionally, developing effective follow-up strategies and leveraging digital tools can help part-time salespeople convert leads and meet targets despite a non-traditional work schedule.

Roofing Canvasser / Door-to-Door Appointment Setter

SURE ROOFING GROUP LLC

Bozeman, MT โ€ข On-site

$40/hr

Part-time

Posted 26 days ago

Job description

Bozeman & Surrounding Areas, Montana
Part-Time | Approximately 5–20 Hours Per Week
Performance-Based Growth Opportunity | Potential to Earn $200 Per Qualified Inspection Set

SureRoof is looking for a confident, consistent canvasser to generate roofing inspection opportunities throughout Bozeman and surrounding areas.
This is a door-to-door prospecting position.
Your primary responsibility is simple:
Knock doors, talk with homeowners, offer real value, and consistently set qualified roofing inspections for our sales team.

We are looking for someone willing to get into neighborhoods and create opportunities—not someone who is uncomfortable approaching people or needs constant supervision to stay productive.
Minimum expected performance: 3 qualified inspections set per week.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

You’ll spend approximately 5–20 hours per week in the field, primarily canvassing neighborhoods where SureRoof is currently completing projects, has previously completed projects, or has identified opportunities for new business.
You will:
  • Consistently knock a high volume of doors
  • Introduce SureRoof professionally to homeowners
  • Start conversations and identify potential roofing needs
  • Explain why an inspection may be valuable to the homeowner
  • Set qualified roofing inspections for our sales team
  • Work neighborhoods around active and completed SureRoof projects
  • Prospect new neighborhoods and surrounding areas when needed
  • Track your activity and appointments
  • Represent SureRoof professionally in every interaction
WHAT WE EXPECT

Results matter.

You will be expected to consistently produce at least 3 qualified roofing inspections per week.
That means being comfortable knocking a lot of doors.
Some homeowners will say no. Some won’t answer. Your job is to stay consistent, keep moving, and create enough conversations to produce results.
We expect:
  • 3+ qualified inspections set per week
  • Consistent door-knocking activity
  • Confidence approaching and speaking with homeowners
  • Strong people and communication skills
  • Ability to quickly build trust
  • Ability to clearly communicate value instead of simply asking for an appointment
  • Self-motivation and personal accountability
  • Professional appearance and communication
  • Willingness to work outside and move through neighborhoods for extended periods
  • Ability to work approximately 5–20 hours per week
  • Ability to work throughout Bozeman and surrounding areas
Previous canvassing, roofing, sales, appointment-setting, or door-to-door experience is helpful, but performance and consistency matter more than your resume.

PROVE IT

This isn’t a position where simply showing up is enough.
We need someone who can consistently turn activity into opportunities.
If you’re confident in your people skills, willing to knock enough doors, and capable of setting at least 3 inspections every week, we want to talk.
If knocking on strangers’ doors, hearing “no,” and continuing to the next house sounds intimidating, this probably isn’t your position.
COMPENSATION & PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITY

This position starts as a part-time canvassing role with approximately 5–20 hours per week.
Successful canvassers may have the opportunity to move into a performance-based compensation structure paying $200 per qualified inspection set.

That creates a simple opportunity:
Get better at the job, become more efficient, and potentially earn more while working fewer hours.

At $200 per qualified inspection:
3 inspections = $600
5 inspections = $1,000
10 inspections = $2,000

The performance-based structure is earned through demonstrated results. It is not guaranteed simply by working a certain amount of time.
We want to reward people who can consistently produce.
BEFORE YOU APPLY

Do not apply if you are looking for a position where you can wait for customers to come to you.
This job requires you to initiate conversations.
You need to be comfortable walking neighborhoods, knocking doors, talking to homeowners, handling rejection, and doing it consistently.
You don’t need to be the loudest person in the room.
You do need to be confident, personable, persistent, and capable of showing homeowners why speaking with SureRoof could be valuable to them.
If you can consistently generate 3 or more qualified roofing inspections per week, there is an opportunity to earn more responsibility and move toward performance-based compensation.
