Joining professional associations and using digital tools for scheduling and record management can help address these challenges.

Can I do notary work as a side hustle?

Part-time notary publics can often work as a side hustle, providing services such as witnessing signatures and administering oaths outside of regular employment hours. Certification and adherence to state laws are required, and many notaries operate independently or through signing services to accommodate flexible schedules.

Your responsibilities are to be present while clients sign legal documents, record the date and time of signing, certify copies of original documents, and verify that the signer’s identification is correct. Some notaries public also carry out their duties in legal settings, such as mediation rooms or courtrooms, to verify signatures between parties in legal cases.
