Job description

The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area.  Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Job Summary

The Part-Time Maintenance Worker supports the parish by helping maintain church buildings, parish facilities, and grounds in a safe, clean, and welcoming condition. This position assists with general repairs, custodial duties, setup for parish events, and routine maintenance while supporting the mission and values of the Catholic Church.

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on parish buildings and equipment
  • Maintain cleanliness of church, parish hall, classrooms, offices, and restrooms
  • Assist with setup and breakdown for Masses, meetings, funerals, weddings, and parish events
  • Perform basic landscaping duties including mowing, trimming, snow removal, and trash collection
  • Monitor building systems such as heating, cooling, lighting, and plumbing
  • Report maintenance concerns and safety hazards to the pastor or business manager
  • Ensure facilities remain safe, secure, and presentable
  • Assist outside contractors and service providers when needed
  • Follow parish safety procedures and maintain confidentiality when appropriate
Job Requirements
  • General maintenance, custodial, or handyman experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems helpful
  • Ability to use maintenance equipment and cleaning supplies safely
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and organized
  • Ability to work respectfully with parish staff, volunteers, and parishioners
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and supplies
