How much do part time leasing jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 16, 2026, the average hourly pay for part time leasing in California is $18.27, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $15.91 and $18.99 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Leasing Agent, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Leasing Agent, you need strong sales abilities, knowledge of property management practices, and typically a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with property management software, CRM systems, and digital marketing tools is commonly expected. Outstanding interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask help agents build trust and efficiently manage tenant relations. These skills and qualities are crucial for ensuring high occupancy rates, delivering excellent customer service, and maintaining smooth leasing operations.

What are part time leasing agents?

Part time leasing agents are professionals who work on a part-time basis to help property owners or management companies find tenants for rental properties. Their responsibilities typically include showing rental units to prospective tenants, explaining lease terms, processing rental applications, and assisting with move-in procedures. Part time leasing agents often work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate clients' schedules. This role is common in apartment complexes, real estate agencies, and property management companies.

What are some common challenges faced by part-time leasing professionals, and how can they be managed effectively?

Part-time leasing professionals often face challenges such as managing a fluctuating workload, staying up-to-date with property details, and ensuring strong communication with both prospective tenants and the full-time team. Balancing multiple tasks within limited hours requires strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize urgent leasing inquiries. Staying connected with the property management team through regular check-ins and utilizing digital tools can help maintain smooth operations and provide prospective tenants with timely, accurate information.

What jobs make 5000 a week without a degree?

Part time leasing roles typically do not pay $5,000 a week; high earnings in leasing often depend on commissions and sales performance. Jobs that can reach this level without a degree include real estate agents, sales managers, or certain entrepreneurial ventures, but they usually require experience, licensing, or strong sales skills. Most roles with such income levels involve commission-based pay and significant responsibility.

What is the difference between Part Time Leasing vs Leasing Consultant?

AspectPart Time LeasingLeasing Consultant
CredentialsHigh school diploma or equivalent; real estate license optionalHigh school diploma; real estate license often preferred
Work EnvironmentPart-time hours, often flexible, in property management offices or leasing eventsFull-time or part-time, in leasing offices, touring apartments, and interacting with prospective tenants
Employer & Industry UsageProperty management companies, apartment complexes, real estate firmsProperty management firms, leasing agencies, apartment communities

Part Time Leasing roles typically involve flexible hours and may require minimal certifications, focusing on leasing apartments or units. Leasing Consultants usually work full-time or part-time in similar environments, often with a real estate license or certification. Both roles serve the same industry but differ mainly in hours and certification requirements.

How much do leasing agents make per lease?

Leasing agents typically earn a commission or fee per lease they secure, which can range from a flat fee of $50 to $200 or more, or a percentage of the first month's rent, often around 25-50%. The exact amount depends on the property, company policies, and local market standards, and some agents also receive a base salary combined with commissions.

What is the highest paying part-time job?

Part-time leasing agents in real estate or property management can earn high wages, especially with commission or bonuses based on occupancy rates. Other lucrative part-time roles include freelance consulting, specialized tutoring, or technical support, which often pay higher hourly rates due to skill requirements. Earnings vary depending on industry, experience, and location.

Is being a leasing agent worth it?

Being a leasing agent can be a worthwhile job for those interested in sales, customer service, and property management, often offering flexible hours and commission-based pay. The role requires strong communication skills, knowledge of leasing laws, and familiarity with property management software. Compensation varies by location and experience, and the job can provide opportunities for career advancement in real estate or property management.
