What is a part time IT helpdesk?

Part-time IT helpdesk jobs involve providing technical support and troubleshooting services to users, but on a schedule that is less than full-time (typically under 40 hours per week). Responsibilities usually include answering support tickets, resolving hardware and software issues, and assisting users with network or system problems. These roles are ideal for students, professionals seeking flexible hours, or those looking to gain experience in IT. Part-time IT helpdesk staff may work onsite or remotely, depending on the employer's needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time IT helpdesk professional?

To thrive as a Part Time IT Helpdesk professional, you generally need foundational knowledge of computer systems, troubleshooting skills, and a relevant certification like CompTIA A+ or Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate. Familiarity with ticketing systems (such as ServiceNow or Jira), remote desktop tools, and basic networking concepts is typically required. Strong communication, patience, and problem-solving abilities are essential soft skills for assisting users effectively and managing multiple requests. These skills and qualities are crucial for efficiently resolving technical issues, maintaining user satisfaction, and supporting smooth business operations.

Are you someone who enjoys technology, solving problems, and helping others? Pine Haven Christian Communities is seeking a part-time IT Helpdesk Tier 1 Support team member to assist our IT Specialist in supporting and maintaining the technology systems that keep our organization running smoothly.

This is a first-shift, flexible position (20 hours per week) with the opportunity to provide hands-on technical support to employees and residents across our campuses. We are especially interested in someone with experience and skill using WordPress Elementor.

Requirements:

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with password resets, account access, system clean-up, and website updates using WordPress Elementor.
  • Researching technical issues and helping identify solutions.
  • Assisting with IT projects, technology rollouts, equipment maintenance, inventory, documentation, and basic low-voltage wiring.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes and use technology more efficiently.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Experience and demonstrated skill using WordPress Elementor strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of WiFi, Ethernet, Windows 11, iPads, and Android tablets.
  • Minimum of one year of relevant IT or technical support experience preferred.

  • Ability to support all Pine Haven campuses with reliable personal transportation. Mileage reimbursement is available.
  • Availability for occasional after-hours support, as needed.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, organizational, and time-management skills.

If you are looking for a flexible, part-time opportunity to use your technology skills while making a difference in the lives of others, we would love to have you join the Pine Haven Christian Communities team!
