What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Injection Molding Technician, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Injection Molding Technician, you need a basic understanding of manufacturing processes, mechanical aptitude, and preferably a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with injection molding machines, quality inspection tools, and safety protocols is commonly required. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and good teamwork are crucial soft skills for this role. These skills and qualities are important to ensure efficient production, maintain product quality, and uphold workplace safety standards.

What are some typical responsibilities and challenges for someone working in a part-time injection molding position?

In a part-time injection molding role, you’ll typically be responsible for operating molding machines, inspecting finished products for quality, and assisting with setup or material changes as needed. A key challenge is quickly learning to identify and address common defects, such as warping or incomplete fills, especially when working shorter shifts. Since injection molding often involves teamwork, you’ll regularly collaborate with full-time operators and maintenance staff to ensure smooth production and minimize downtime. This role is a great entry point for gaining hands-on experience in manufacturing and can lead to more advanced positions with additional training.

What is a part time injection molding job?

The ideal candidate should have a passion for outdoor activities and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
As a Seasonal Custom Boot Fitter at Backcountry Outlet, you'll be responsible for delivering top-tier, personalized ski and snowboard boot fitting services. You'll work hands-on with customers to assess fit issues, perform custom modifications, and ensure every skier or rider leaves with boots that enhance comfort, control, and performance. This role requires both technical skill and a passion for helping people get the most out of their time on snow.
What you get to do every day:
  • Perform detailed boot fit assessments, including stance analysis, shell checks, and liner evaluation.
  • Execute full custom boot work, including:
  • Custom insoles, liners, and footbeds
  • Shell stretching, punching, and grinding
  • Foam injection or vacuum molding systems (e.g. Fischer, Head, Atomic, etc.)
  • Diagnose and resolve customer fit issues with professionalism and clear communication.
  • Provide honest, expert recommendations for new boots or modifications as needed.
  • Maintain organized boot fitting workspace and tools.
  • Stay current on product knowledge, boot technologies, and fitting techniques.
  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience that aligns with Backcountry Outlet's service standards and culture.
  • Other duties as assigned by management team and Lead Shop Tech.

What you bring to the role:
  • Prior experience in ski or snowboard boot fitting (minimum 2-3 years preferred).
  • Advanced knowledge of custom boot systems and fitting tools.
  • Familiarity with major boot brands and fit technologies (e.g. BOA, GripWalk, Liquid Fit, etc.).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • A genuine passion for skiing, snowboarding, and mountain culture
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical certifications related to outdoor gear and equipment preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to remain standing for up to 5 hours at a time
  • Ability to move about the store coaching and directing associates; selling to customers and retrieving merchandise from stockroom or sales floor
  • Ability to grab, reach, push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch to retrieve and replenish merchandise from stockroom or sales floor
  • Ability to lift and/or move merchandise weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to ascend/descend ladders to retrieve and/or move merchandise
  • Ability to operate a computer, POS system, keyboards, merchandise scanners and mouse to accomplish work
