Job description

Injection Molding Supervisor

We are seeking a hands-on Injection Molding Supervisor to lead and elevate a growing plastics manufacturing department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced production environment, enjoys developing people, and is excited to take true ownership of a department with the autonomy to drive improvements and efficiency.

This role is ideal for a leader who wants to make a measurable impact by improving processes, mentoring operators, and maximizing the capabilities of advanced molding equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead daily operations of the injection molding department
  • Supervise, train, and mentor a team of 4–5 employees, including entry-level operators
  • Perform mold changeovers, machine setups, troubleshooting, and occasional machine operation as needed
  • Ensure production schedules and KPI targets are met across a high-mix, low-volume environment
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, waste reduction, and overtime reduction
  • Optimize machine utilization, including autonomous overnight operation capabilities
  • Mix raw materials and support resin/color change processes
  • Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineering and technical staff to improve department performance
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented culture while effectively managing different personalities and experience levels
Qualifications Must-Have:
  • 6–10+ years of injection molding experience
  • Strong experience working with Krauss Maffei injection molding machines
  • 2–5+ years of leadership experience (Lead, Supervisor, or Manager)
  • Hands-on leadership style with a passion for coaching and developing employees
  • Comfortable being a working supervisor who can jump in wherever needed
  • Experience working in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environments
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening (zero-tolerance policy)
Nice to Have:
  • Job shop or custom manufacturing experience
  • Knowledge of resins, raw materials, color mixing, pellet sizing, and melt temperatures
  • PLC troubleshooting or modification experience
  • Strong continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify cost-saving opportunities
