Description
Provides emergency medical interventions at the direction of the JSC Emergency Operation Center in concert with the JSC Fire and Security specialists. The ideal candidate for this position possesses excellent patient service skills, is able to work well under pressure, and make quick decisions about patient health. Provides a supportive role for smooth daily JSC Clinic operations to include completing, Audiology, Pulmonary Function Testing, EKG, Visual screening, and routine physical examination testing. Provides open, clear feedback to the Chief Nurse. Supports special functions and programs of Johnson Space Center. NOTE: This position is PRN and will work on an as needed basis.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responds to emergency calls, assesses patient condition and makes critical care decisions quickly.
  • Demonstrates the ability to be an advocate for and strive to protect the health, safety and rights of the patient, and maintains the utmost in privacy for our patients.
  • Communicates effectively with other care providers (physicians, nurses, and satellite staff) to provide for continuity of patient care and to meet the needs of the patients we serve.
  • Collects pertinent patient care data and transfers that data to a medical professional based on state guidelines.
  • Transfers patients to local hospitals.
  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by taking ownership of time management, decreasing waste (of time and supplies) and promoting cost effectiveness while maintaining patient safety and quality of care.

  • Identifies and assists with opportunities for performance improvement activities.
  • Demonstrates positive behaviors, interactions, and a positive attitude.
  • Responsible for compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental plan; must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all of the Company's safety policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel.
  • Responsible for compliance with the Quality Assurance Plan, policies and procedures.
  • Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance level as determined by the Company.
  • Responsible for completing all assigned training.
  • Must become proficient in standard protocols and specialized protocols for unique requirements including ability to train others in a unique environment.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Fulfills the duty and responsibility to maintain competence and to continue personal and professional growth.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:
  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license
  • Emergency Medical Paramedic license in the state of Texas

DESIRED:
  • Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Medical Service experience.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATION
REQUIRED:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

DESIRED:
  • Proficient computers skill to include Microsoft Office products
  • Certified through the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) or ability to obtain this certification
  • Certified through National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) approved spirometry training program or the ability to obtain this certification
  • BLS Instructor Certification
  • ACLS Instructor Certification
