Job description

Longwood Gardens is seeking a friendly, energetic part-time Garden Shop Plant Sales Associate to support our retail operations in our onsite Garden Shop. The Sales Associate will educate guests about plant selection and plant care, maintain plant displays, process plant shipments, and maintain and care for plant material inside and outside. Responsibilities include:

  • Processing sales and transactions on the POS system
  • Educating guests about plant selections and plant care
  • Working directly with the Plant Manager and team to process plant shipments
  • Contributing to the store and overall guest experience with positive and helpful customer service
  • Adhering to shop safety standards, inventory accuracy, reduction of product loss, and upholding all company policy and procedures

This is a year-round, part-time role (not seasonal). The work schedule varies and includes weekends, evenings, and holidays.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • An exceptional customer service, communication, and hospitality skills
  • Previous experience in retail or garden center preferred
  • Plant knowledge preferred but not required
  • Computer and system knowledge of sales register, Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and others as identified
  • The ability to stand for long periods of time, lift a minimum of 30 pounds, and work in varying weather conditions
