As a Security Officer Staten Island Ferry Area Patrol in Staten Island, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. In this role, you will monitor and patrol assigned ferry-related areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and assist visitors with exceptional customer service and communication. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to visitors, passengers, and staff by carrying out security-related procedures, location-specific policies, and/or emergency response activities at a government transportation location.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, escalating concerns through appropriate reporting channels when needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout terminals, waiting areas, entry points, and perimeter locations to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify unusual conditions.
  • Monitor access points and public areas, observe passenger and visitor activity, and report maintenance, operational, and/or security-related concerns to site contacts.
  • Support orderly operations during busy travel periods, service disruptions, and/or emergency situations by providing directions, communicating instructions, and documenting incidents in a timely manner.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A valid New York State Security Guard License is required.
  • At least 1 year of security-related experience is required.
  • Proof of a high school diploma or GED is required by the client.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
