Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION – Career Life Coach (Birmingham Campus)

Position: Career Life Coach (Part-time)

Reports to: Birmingham Campus Director

Purpose

The Career Life Coach will play a pivotal role in advancing Hope Inspired Ministries' (HIM) mission by providing comprehensive career and life coaching services to participants at the Birmingham Campus. Through HIM's Recruit. Train. Employ.® model, the Career Life Coach will deliver holistic training that equips participants with the personal, social, and professional skills needed to obtain, maintain, and excel at employment.

This position requires a passion for working with individuals who have faced significant life challenges. The Career Life Coach will teach life skills, job readiness, financial literacy, workplace success strategies, and character development while helping students overcome barriers such as transportation, housing instability, lack of identification, legal challenges, and limited support systems. While this role primarily serves the Birmingham Campus, the Career Life Coach must be prepared to assist other HIM campuses as needed to ensure consistent program delivery and participant support.

Key Responsibilities

Community Engagement

Serve as a representative of HIM and a positive role model for students and graduates.

Build strong partnerships with community organizations, employers, volunteers, and service providers to support student success and employment opportunities.

Motivate and inspire students through mentorship, encouragement, and accountability.

Engage with employers to create employment opportunities for program graduates.

Program Delivery

Deliver classroom instruction and job readiness training, adapting methods to meet the diverse learning needs of adult participants.

Provide individualized coaching and wrap-around support, including:

• Assisting with identification and essential documentation.

• Supporting employment placement and retention efforts.

• Connecting participants with housing, transportation, mentoring, counseling, and continuing education resources.

Use data and key metrics to evaluate program performance and participant outcomes.

Multi-Campus Involvement

Serve primarily at the Birmingham Campus but remain available to assist at other HIM campuses if organizational needs arise.

Adapt teaching and coaching strategies to suit various environments and participant populations.

Travel to other campuses will be infrequent and based solely on program needs to maintain consistency in service delivery.

Operational Responsibilities

Partner with the Birmingham Campus Director and Administrative Staff to ensure accurate data entry, financial reporting, and timely submission of grant documentation.

Maintain all program-related data for internal and external reporting.

Support day-to-day campus operations and ensure program efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to build trust and mentor individuals from diverse and challenging backgrounds.

Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities.

Confident public speaking and group facilitation skills.

Experience in workforce development, social services, nonprofit organizations, education, counseling, ministry, or related fields preferred.

Bachelor's degree and/or relevant experience in nonprofit management, counseling, education, workforce development, or a related field preferred.

Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office platforms.

Travel Requirements

Valid driver's license and personal vehicle insurance required.

Willingness to occasionally travel between HIM campuses as needed.

A company vehicle is typically provided for official travel.

Hours & Compensation

This part-time position offers meaningful work with a flexible schedule and competitive hourly compensation.

Compensation: $20.00 per hour, averaging approximately 20 hours per week.

Schedule: Work hours will be coordinated based on program needs and availability. Some evening and weekend hours may be required for program activities and community engagement.

Mileage Reimbursement: Travel related to program activities will be reimbursed in accordance with organizational policy.
