Job Description:This recruitment will be used to fill three part-time (a maximum of 20-24 hours per week) Community and Program Assistant positions for the Cultural Resource Center kaku-ixt mana ina haws within Diversity & Cultural Engagement at Oregon State University (OSU).
Department Overview
Diversity & Cultural Engagement (DCE) is a student-centered department dedicated to fostering identity-affirming community, belonging, and leadership development. Through Cultural Resource Centers, educational programming, and collaborative partnerships, DCE supports students from historically underrepresented communities while advancing equity, learning, and connection across campus.
Position Summary
The Cultural Resource Center (CRC) Community and Program Assistantsupportsthe daily operations, community engagement, and educational programming of Diversity & Cultural Engagement. Student Leaders work in partnership with professional staff and peers tomaintainwelcoming spaces,assistwith programs and outreach, and contribute to student learning and community-building initiatives aligned with DCE's mission. While professional staffretainresponsibility for overall decision-making and accountability, CRC Student Leaders play an active role in implementation, feedback, and student-centered leadership development.
Position Duties:
Administrative & Center Operation Support
Staff Cultural Resource Center during scheduled shifts, providing consistent front-desk coverage
Respond to phone, email, and in-person inquiries with professionalism, confidentiality, andappropriate judgment
Manage office operations including printer support, mail pickup,submitsupply requests and inventory tracking, as well as stock andmonitorkitchen, office, and event supplies
Maintain organized digital files and shared drives
Assistwith center reservations, room scheduling, and calendar coordination
Report facility, technical, or IT issues toappropriate campuspartners
Use and continuouslylearn updates fordepartment software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Canva, Concur,Mazevo)
Attend and activelyparticipatein required trainings and weekly student staff meetings
Follow university and departmental policies, procedures, and workflows
Facilitate or co-facilitate meetingsand presentationsas assigned
Maintain clean, safe, and organized center spaces, including kitchens and gathering areas
Conduct routine walkthroughs during shifts to tidy spaces and greet guests
Post weekly events' flyers, newsletters, and OSU updates in center spaces
Set up and break down rooms for meetings and events, including tables, chairs, and equipment
Operate basic audio-visual and event equipment
Complete routine upkeep tasks (e.g., watering plants, resetting spaces)
Safely lift and move furniture or equipment (up to 25-50lbs.) asrequired
Community Engagement & Student Support
Welcome visitors and foster a respectful, inclusive, and affirming environment
Provide orientations and tours for students and campus partners
Build community through relationship-based peer engagement and support
Connect students to relevant campus and community resources
Participate in outreach efforts such as tabling, presentations, and campus-wide events
Represent DCE on committees, working groups, or initiatives asassigned
Collaborate with student organizations, campus departments, and community partners
Support a healthy workplace culture grounded in accountability, care, and repair
Engage in ongoing reflection, identity development, and learning whilesupporting peersaroundidentity development, social justice, and belonging
Event Planning & Programming
Contribute ideas during program brainstorming and planning processes
Support eventlogistics, including proposals, scheduling, promotion,and execution
Staff event check-in tables and provide on-site support
Co-lead orfacilitateevents, including public speaking and group engagement
Collaborate with student organizations and welcome student-initiated program ideas
Support the development of event and department learning outcomes aligned with DCE goals
Assistwith event assessment and reflection to evaluate program impact
Document programs through photos, videos, or narrative summaries
Follow departmental processes for event planning, promotion, and budgeting
Assistwith social media content creation and maintenance as assigned
Outreach, Education & Engagement
Serve asastudent leader on topics related to identity, equity, and social justice
Share information about systems of oppression and their impact on communities served by DCE
Listen to anduplift theexperiencesof students from historically underrepresented communities
Support coalition-building and cross-center collaboration
Identifykey issuesimpactingcommunities served by the CRCs andassistwith efforts to minimize or remove negative impacts
Provide support for cultural, religious, and community-based activities and observances
Respond appropriately to conflict or crisis situations by following training and referring to professional staff
