What is a part time contractor?

A part time contractor is an individual who is hired to perform specific tasks or services for a company on a part-time basis, typically without being considered a full employee. They usually work under a contract that outlines the scope, duration, and payment terms of their work. Unlike full-time employees, part time contractors often have more flexible schedules, are responsible for their own taxes, and may not receive employee benefits such as health insurance or paid time off. This arrangement is common in industries like construction, IT, consulting, and creative services.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Contractor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Contractor, you need relevant expertise in your field, strong self-management abilities, and a track record of delivering quality work independently. Familiarity with project management tools like Trello or Asana, digital communication platforms, and sometimes specific certifications or licenses are often required. Exceptional time management, adaptability, and proactive communication are the soft skills that distinguish top contractors. These skills and qualities are crucial for meeting client expectations, managing variable workloads, and maintaining long-term professional relationships.

How does working as a part-time contractor impact collaboration with full-time employees and project teams?

As a part-time contractor, you may work remotely or on-site and often join existing teams for specific projects or tasks. While you typically have more flexible hours, communication and coordination are crucial, especially when aligning your schedule with full-time staff and meeting project deadlines. Many organizations use collaboration tools, regular check-ins, and clear documentation to ensure contractors are integrated into the workflow and can contribute effectively. Building relationships with team members and maintaining proactive communication can help you overcome any barriers associated with part-time or remote status.

Services You'll Provide…

As an Independent Contractor – Personal Host (Relocation Consultant), you will deliver high-touch, client-facing relocation services to employees and their families as they transition into a new city. You will act as a knowledgeable local resource, offering tailored guidance and hands-on support across key aspects of the relocation experience.

This opportunity is structured around individual client engagements, with service needs varying based on market activity and client demand. Services are delivered both remotely and in-person within your local area, depending on the nature of each engagement.

Success in this role requires strong local expertise, a consultative mindset, and the ability to independently manage multiple client engagements while delivering a seamless, high-quality experience.

How You'll Deliver Value…

Build trusted relationships with relocating employees by understanding their needs, preferences, and priorities. Provide guidance on neighborhoods, transportation, and local lifestyle considerations. Conduct housing and school research, including rental market insights, commute considerations, and general suitability. Support clients with local orientation and navigation of common relocation logistics. Curate personalized recommendations for dining, social, cultural, and lifestyle activities. Deliver tailored insights and recommendations using your local expertise and available tools. Facilitate area tours (virtual or in-person), offering real-time perspective and context. Communicate with clients through phone, email, video, and/or in-person interactions. Coordinate with relevant vendors, partners, or service providers as needed to support the client experience. Manage multiple client engagements independently, ensuring organization and follow-through. Document key updates and interactions to support continuity of service.

What Enables Success in This Role…

Established presence in Atlanta, with strong knowledge of local neighborhoods, housing, and lifestyle offerings. Experience in a client-facing, service-oriented capacity (e.g., relocation services, real estate, hospitality, concierge services, mobility, or similar). Ability to operate independently and manage multiple engagements simultaneously. Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. Professional judgment and discretion when supporting clients through complex or high-touch situations. Familiarity with local service providers, vendors, or community networks is a strong advantage. Prior experience relocating individuals or clients is preferred.

What Past Experience and Current Skills Will Enable Your Success In This Role?
  • Must have the legal right to work in the USA.
  • Must have at least 5 years of residency in Atlanta, with extensive knowledge of the local rental market, education system, and local registration processes.
  • Preference for someone based in greater Atlanta - ideally in the I-285 inner loop, including areas such as Buckhead, Brookhaven, Vinings, Sandy Springs, Dunwoody and Decatur.
  • Must own (not rent) a reliable, registered, and insured 4-door vehicle with a valid driver's license, as the role involves driving clients for area tours and rental searches.
  • Applicants should have the flexibility to dedicate at least 25 hours per week to this role without the demands of full-time employment elsewhere.
  • Must be flexible and available to work weekends.
  • Friendly, outgoing personality, strong customer service orientation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Must be self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Prior personal relocation or moving assistance experience is preferred, but not required.
Education and/or Technology Requirement
  • Bachelor or Associate's degree (or equivalent) preferred
  • Extensive experience with technology tools such as Microsoft Office, Google GSuite, and CRM systems
  • Must have a laptop, smartphone, and reliable internet connection
Language Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as contracts, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
Nature of Engagement

This is an independent contractor (1099) opportunity. Contractors are engaged on a per-assignment basis, with service volume varying by client demand and market activity. There is no guarantee of ongoing or minimum volume of work. Contractors maintain discretion over how services are delivered, in alignment with client needs and engagement expectations. Contractors are responsible for maintaining any required licenses, insurance, or local compliance applicable to their services.

Additional Considerations

Strong familiarity with the local market is essential to delivering a high-quality client experience. This opportunity is well-suited for individuals already operating in a client-facing or service-based capacity within their local market. Compensation varies based on location, scope, and complexity of each engagement

Pay range: $40.00 - $45.00
