Job description

This position is with a local 501c3 feline rescue group. If you are looking for a low stress part-time position that allows you extensive time with rescued cats and kittens, time to complete tasks without pressure, and the ability to use your training and knowledge in an environment that shares your love for felines, then this might be what you are looking for! We are seeking a part time veterinary assistant/tech to work in the Wake Forest area.

This position has the possibility to become full time but not guaranteed. The applicant needs to have extensive experience dealing the cats and kittens of all ages as well as feral and difficult cats. The job involves intake of rescued cats and kittens with the ability to recognize issues and treat as needed.

The applicant must be able to work alone and independently, respond to medical questions and issues with cats and kittens in the rescue, be able to work efficiently with record keeping both on the computer and otherwise, respond and work with veterinarians, and manage a small shelter situation with associated duties that involves LOTS of cleaning! Testing, vaccinations, medicating, monitoring the health of animals, tube feeding and managing neonatal kittens, are some of the associated duties. Ability to work with fosters is essential.

The position is 20 – 24 hours a week. At this time, this is a mainly evening position with some mornings. Evenings are Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and Saturday and Sunday mornings - total again 20 - 24 hours and shifts are four hours.
