Job Function:
Support the buyers by analyzing purchasing data, assisting with supplier evaluation and contributing to the development of procurement strategies.
Essential Functions:
  1. Works with the Marketing Department to help plan for promotional and sale campaigns.
  2. Communicates effectively with customers, management, supervisor, and staff.
  3. Assists in analyzing purchasing data to identify trends, cost-savings opportunities and supplier performance metrics.
  4. Prepare and present reports on purchasing activities, inventory levels and supplier performance.
  5. Provide administrative support to the buyers, including managing purchase order and updating records
  6. Keeping inventory accurate on the University Book Store website. Adding merchandise when back in stock and removing discontinued product.
  7. Coordinates transfers between stores.
  8. Completes promotional events, price changes and markdowns.
  9. Assist in market research to identify new suppliers and product options.
  10. Proposes new ideas to help promote University Book Store merchandise.
  11. Ensures merchandise is in stock, priced correctly and displayed according to guidelines.
  12. Assists with maintaining sales floor presentation.
  13. Performs UBS customer service expectations as required
  14. Performs all additional duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities:
  1. Writes up defects for credit.
  2. Works with buyers on pricing, scanning and product issues.
  3. Assists in maintaining inventory records as directed by the Supervisor and Department Manager, including counting items, data entry, and verifying and recording information.
  4. Operates cash register to accurately record purchases, completing transactions according to company procedures.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Excellent sales and organization skills.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Competent data entry skills with PC Experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Previous retail experience preferred.

Salary Description
$17.00 per hour
