Poole College of Management has six academic departments: Accounting, Economics, Finance, Information Technology Analytics and Operations (ITAO), Marketing, Management, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship (MIE). We offer bachelor's degrees in accounting, business administration, and economics; master's degrees in accounting, business administration (MBA), economics, and management (including specialized degrees); as well as joint doctoral degrees in economics and operations research. Among our non-degree programs, we offer Executive Education and graduate certificates.

Primary Responsibilities include but aren't limited to:
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of annual operating, personnel, and departmental budgets.
- Monitor departmental budgets throughout the fiscal year and identify variances between budgeted and actual expenditures.
- Review expenditures to ensure compliance with university policies, funding restrictions, and budgetary provisions.
- Assist departments in evaluating available funding and understanding the budgetary impact of proposed expenditures.
- Support year-end budget reconciliation and fiscal close activities.
- Monitor salary funding, labor redistributions, and position funding to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Financial Analysis and Reporting
- Compile financial data and prepare recurring and ad hoc budget and financial reports for college leadership and departmental administrators.
- Analyze budget activity and financial trends to support operational decision-making.
- Maintain financial records and reconcile budget information using university financial systems.
- Assist with financial reporting for operating, trust, grant, and other funding sources as assigned.
- Provide supporting documentation and analysis for budget requests and financial reviews.
Budget Consultation and Customer Service
- Advise department administrators and staff regarding budget availability, funding options, and budgetary implications of financial transactions.
- Respond to budget and financial inquiries from faculty, staff, and administrators.
- Interpret university financial policies and procedures related to budget administration.
- Build collaborative relationships with academic and administrative units to support effective financial management.
- Provide guidance on budget processes and financial reporting requirements.
Systems, Processes, and Continuous Improvement
- Assist in developing and maintaining budget tracking tools, spreadsheets, and standard financial reports.
- Identify opportunities to improve budget processes and reporting efficiency.
- Support implementation of process improvements and updates to financial systems.
- Maintain accurate financial documentation and records.

- Experience supporting budgeting, financial analysis, or accounting, including analyzing financial information, identifying variances or trends, and preparing accurate reports to inform financial decisions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or comparable enterprise spreadsheet tools, including formulas, PivotTables, and data analysis functions used to organize, analyze, reconcile, and communicate financial information.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate financial information, identify discrepancies or emerging issues, and develop practical solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple, high-volume assignments while maintaining accuracy, meeting deadlines, and independently adjusting priorities in response to changing business needs.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information and policies clearly, provide responsive service, and build effective working relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, and other partners.
- 1- 3 years of background in budgeting, financial management, or accounting within a public higher education, government, or similarly complex organization.
- Proficiency with enterprise financial systems (e.g., PeopleSoft Financials) and advanced Microsoft Excel functions, including PivotTables, formulas, and data analysis tools.
- Demonstrated skills in preparing financial reports, budget forecasts, and variance analyses that translate financial data into insights for operational decision-making.
- Knowledge of interpreting and applying financial policies, procedures, and funding requirements while providing clear, responsive guidance to faculty, staff, and administrators.
- Experience developing or improving financial tracking tools, dashboards, or reporting processes to enhance efficiency and data accuracy.
