We are currently looking to hire PART TIME Class A Drivers who will be responsible for safely operating the motor vehicle assigned for transportation to assist with household goods relocations.
Responsibilities Include:
- Provide a complete pre-trip inspection of the vehicle, including documentation
- Provide for any necessary repairs, replacements, fueling, or vehicle weights prior to leaving the yard
- Assure that the driver daily log is current
- Operate vehicles safely within legal guidelines, company policies, and according to road and lot conditions
- Confirm job expectations, vehicle and crew assignments, and routing with Dispatch
- Assure that all necessary paperwork, equipment and materials are loaded before leaving the yard
- Prepare facilities with proper protection
- Protectively pad and wrap items for loading in vehicles and containers
- With the crew, carry and dolly items between the facility and the vehicle or container
- Safely stack and unstack items in the vehicle or container, and safely place the items in the destination facility at the direction of the customer
- Identify items needing special crating/uncrating by a 3rd party if not done previously
- Assist with assembly and disassembly of furniture and fixtures as directed by the Crew Leader
- Remove debris and leave the work site in a clean and orderly condition
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and or move up to 50 pounds unassisted. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Shall be competent by reason of experience or training to safely operate the assigned motor vehicle assigned for transportation of BMS shipments. This must include 6 months verifiable experience with a major van line or an acceptable local moving company.
- Can read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public. Must understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, and to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on various reports and records.
- Must pass Physical Qualifications and Examinations to be qualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle in accordance with FMCSR 391 Subpart E. Must also pass company criminal background screening.
