Description Job Purpose: DDM Group has an immediate opening for a Manager, Audience Development - Social & Distribution to help create growth-focused social media strategies for our three digital properties AtlantaBlackStar.com, Finurah.com and TheShadowLeague.com. The Social Media Manager will build out a specialized, higly-qualified team to play a key role in DDM's efforts to drive long-term audience growth, audience engagement, content outreach and build brand awareness. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of leveraging social media platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, and other existing and emerging platforms to achieve performance metrics. The ideal candidate must have the ability to balance multiple priorities while having a proactive mindset toward accelerating DDM's audience growth and brand awareness. Candidate's daily decisions should be guided by a strong understanding of our audience and its demands that are gained through careful attention to available metrics and analytics. Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Create visually captivating, thumb-stopping campaigns and copy
  • Identify emerging distribution platforms: Test, track and analyze data to spot opportunities and refine strategies accordingly
  • Collaborate with editorial and video team to share data-based insights on which types of content drive the highest traffic to the sites
  • Collaborate with team of social media reporters to oversee posting across all content distribution platforms, in addition to crafting engaging, accurate and grammatically correct copy
  • Execute cross platform content strategies that rapidly grow our following, brand awareness, and monetization opportunities
  • Maintains awareness of competitors' strategies and practices, informs DDM of where we are behind and/or ahead
  • Develop and maintain social posting schedule across the entire digital group
  • Manage social spending budget, implement campaigns to align with and meet the team's KPIs
  • Work closely with agency, sales and brand digital team to execute social expectations on sponsorship, direct and programmatic deals
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders on email subscriber acquisition programs (paid and organic) to drive growth and engagement of newsletters
  • Support digital teams by creating unique and compelling campaigns for content offerings
  • Track progress in daily and weekly reports across various metrics to ensure engagement goals are met
Position Requirements Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or comparable degree
  • At least five years' experience in Social Media Strategist and Manager or comparable role
  • Proven track record of growing engagement and following on social platforms
  • Proficiency with Facebook Business Manager, Social News Desk, and other social media management tools and analytics
  • Proficient in SEO, including Google Analytics
  • Proficient in Adobe Suite, with a heightened expertise in Photosphop.
  • Expert in Canva
  • Experience with A/B testing
  • Experience with multi-channel digital media campaign strategy and activation
  • Proven success working across internal and external teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of social media distribution and digital publishing best practices
  • Strong news judgment and understanding of journalism ethics
  • An ability to be both in the weeds, managing day-to-day operations, and strategizing long term
  • Demonstrates a high sense of urgency, ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Has a unique understanding of how race impacts the life of Black people
