Why do most apprentices quit?

Most apprentices quit due to factors such as lack of proper training, unclear expectations, or limited support from supervisors. Additionally, the physically demanding nature of apprenticeships and the need to balance work with learning can contribute to higher dropout rates.

How does being a part time apprentice impact the learning experience compared to a full-time apprenticeship?

As a part time apprentice, you'll often balance your training with other commitments, such as studies or another job. This flexible schedule allows you to gain practical skills at a manageable pace, but it may mean a longer overall training period before qualification. You'll still have access to mentorship and hands-on experience, but it's important to stay organized and proactive in communication to keep up with project timelines and learning objectives. Collaborating closely with supervisors and peers will help ensure you’re integrated into the team and making steady progress.

What is a Part Time Apprentice?

A Part Time Apprentice is someone who combines on-the-job training with classroom instruction while working fewer hours than a full-time apprentice. This role allows individuals to gain hands-on experience and develop skills in a particular trade or profession, often while balancing other commitments such as school or another job. Part time apprenticeships are ideal for those seeking flexibility while still pursuing a recognized pathway to a career. Apprentices typically earn a wage and may work toward a nationally recognized qualification at the end of their program.

What is the highest paying apprentice job?

The highest paying apprentice jobs are often in skilled trades such as electrical, plumbing, or HVAC apprenticeships, where apprentices can earn higher wages as they gain experience and certifications. Some specialized technical apprenticeships in fields like aerospace or manufacturing also offer higher pay, especially for those with prior skills or advanced training.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Apprentice, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Apprentice, you need a willingness to learn, basic literacy and numeracy skills, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with workplace safety procedures and the ability to use job-specific tools or software may be required depending on the industry. Strong communication, reliability, and adaptability help apprentices stand out as they balance learning with job responsibilities. These skills are essential because apprenticeships are designed to build foundational knowledge and practical experience, ensuring growth and readiness for future career advancement.

Can you work part-time as an apprentice?

Yes, many apprenticeship programs offer part-time options, allowing individuals to gain skills while working fewer hours. Part-time apprenticeships typically require balancing work with training and may have specific eligibility criteria depending on the industry and program rules.

Is 27 too old for an apprenticeship?

Part time apprenticeships are open to individuals of various ages, including those in their late 20s. Age is generally not a barrier, and many programs value skills, motivation, and willingness to learn over age. Candidates should focus on meeting the program's requirements and demonstrating commitment to the trade or field.

Job description

Social Activation Team Member (Apprenticeship Track) - MUST LIVE IN CALIFORNIA
Remote | California-based | Part-Time Freelance + Training | $18–23/hr
Are you the kind of marketer who’s always engaging, commenting, and connecting online?
Clear Digital Labs (CDL) is building a Social Activation Team: a group of trusted digital marketers who help amplify our voice, engage authentically with the marketing community, and support visibility for CDL and our partners.
This role averages 3-5 hours per month and is ideal for early-career marketers, creators, or community-minded professionals who want paid experience, portfolio-building work, and access to longer-term freelance opportunities, all while being supported through structured training and mentorship.
This role is paired with our state-accredited Digital Marketing Apprenticeship Program, which provides hands-on learning, certifications, and career pathways beyond this specific role.
What You’ll Contribute:
This role focuses on authentic engagement and brand advocacy. Social Activation Team Members support CDL’s presence by:
  • Participating in relevant conversations within marketing and creator communities
  • Sharing CDL resources in appropriate groups and spaces
  • Representing CDL through thoughtful, organic commentary and personal social activity
  • Supporting engagement on CDL, partner, and client accounts
This role prioritizes real interaction over scripted promotion — your voice and perspective matter.

You’re a Good Fit If You:
  • Enjoy engaging on social platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook)
  • Are comfortable posting from personal social accounts (priority over burner accounts)
  • Communicate clearly and reliably in a remote environment
  • Are organized and able to submit proof of work using tools like Monday.com and Slack
  • Are based in California (required for apprenticeship eligibility)
  • Are interested in growing a long-term career in digital marketing
Compensation & Time Commitment:
  • $18–23/hr for paid Social Activation work (based on experience)
  • 3–5 hours per month for paid engagement activities
  • Fully remote and flexible
Apprenticeship Program (Required)
Participation in this role requires enrollment in the Clear Digital Labs Apprenticeship Program.

The apprenticeship portion is unpaid and separate from the paid Social Activation work. It is designed to provide structured training, mentorship, and long-term career development beyond this specific role.
The apprenticeship includes:
  • Unpaid, part-time training (approximately 3 hours per week)
  • Mentorship from experienced digital marketing professionals
  • Portfolio-building projects and hands-on learning
  • Industry-recognized certifications
  • Skill development across digital marketing disciplines, including social media, SEO, analytics, paid ads, branding, and marketing strategy.
Paid Social Activation work is scoped separately and compensated independently from the apprenticeship training.

Future Opportunities Through CDL Careers

Social Activation Team Members who demonstrate strong engagement, communication, and alignment with CDL values may be invited into exclusive freelance opportunities through our business partners at CDL Careers, including:
  • Paid social and content projects
  • Ongoing brand and partner work
  • Long-term freelance or contract placements based on performance and skill alignment
If engaging, connecting, and showing up authentically online sounds like your thing, we’d love to have you on the team!
