MAK Design + Build is an award-winning residential design + build remodeling company based in Davis, California. We are looking for an Apprentice Carpenter who is motivated, curious, and ready to learn the residential remodeling trade alongside an experienced team of builders. We value craftsmanship, accountability, direct communication, and a willingness to learn.

Our projects include kitchens, bathrooms, additions, whole-home remodels, and occasional new construction. Because we design what we build, our field team works closely with designers, Project Managers, Lead Carpenters, and trade partners to create beautiful homes and an exceptional client experience.

The Apprentice Carpenter is an accountable member of the Build Team responsible for supporting all phases of residential remodeling while developing the skills necessary to become a Carpenter. This role receives hands-on training, mentorship, and daily coaching from experienced Lead Carpenters and the Director of Build. The right person is eager to learn, works hard, communicates well, and takes pride in growing every day.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with demolition, framing, finish carpentry, cabinet installation, trim, hardware, and punch list work.
  • Install floor protection, dust containment systems, and maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite.
  • Learn residential construction methods through daily hands-on training and mentorship.
  • Work alongside experienced Carpenters and Lead Carpenters while developing professional carpentry skills.
  • Safely operate hand tools and power tools under supervision.
  • Help organize materials, deliveries, tools, and equipment on active job sites.
  • Follow construction drawings, project instructions, and company standards.
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners, teammates, subcontractors, and trade partners.
  • Utilize company technology including JobTread, scheduling software, email, and shared project documents.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to continuously improve.

Location + Work Arrangement

This is a full-time position based in Davis, California. Our office is located in downtown Davis, and our projects are generally within a 45-minute drive. Daily work is performed on active residential remodeling job sites throughout the surrounding communities.
