Job description

PURPOSE:

To help carpenters by performing duties requiring less skill. Duties include using, supplying, or holding material or tools, and cleaning work area and equipment.

  • Clean work areas, machines, or equipment, to maintain a clean and safe job site.
  • Assist Carpenter in layouts.
  • Install fasteners/hardware.
  • Place and nail blocking and bracing.
  • Assist in aligning and squaring walls.
  • Cut miscellaneous material to size as directed by carpenter.
  • Stacking trusses, install fascia and roof sheathing
  • Other duties as necessary.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Framing or woodworking experience strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to travel to various job sites.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test.
  • Must provide original, valid, and unexpired document(s) that satisfy the Form I-9 employment

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to follow instructions from supervisors, foremen, and carpenters.
  • Ability to use basic power tools and hand tools.
  • Ability to add and subtract in all units of standard US measures, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must be able to read a tape measure.
  • Must be alert to surroundings; position requires high degree of situational awareness.
  • Ability to bend, stop and move repetitively while working with power tools.
  • Ability wo work outside, in all-weather conditions, frequent walking, standing, bending, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently and greater than 100 lbs. Occasionally.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings and weekends.
