Job description

We are a subcontracting company performing finish carpentry for high end, custom, and innovative homes and are expanding our team. We work from Ventura to Santa Barbara. Our estimator will work from home but will attend meetings and job walks.

We are looking for a candidate with deep knowledge of residential finish carpentry construction and estimating who would like to join a dynamic team, expand their skill set, and help us innovate on every level of construction. We would like to integrate AI into our bidding process and this position will need to oversee AI work with diligence.

This position requires a willingness to assist other staff and team members in learning AI.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, tech savvy, production-oriented with a passion for organization and accuracy.  The ability to manage bidding platforms, perform multiple tasks, communicate effectively, and be courteous to all staff is a must. Delivering bids on time is paramount to this position.

Working closely with design and construction teams, the Estimator will perform the following tasks:
  • Assemble scopes of work, develop estimates and proposals.
  • Communicate with the owner of the company and vendors regularly.
  • Upload all information and work with bluebeam and other AI bidding platforms to produce bids.
  • Assist in procuring materials, getting prices for materials that are accurate to our vendors and location.
  • Create project schedules, maintain and update deadlines, track work and compare to contracts.
  • Provide technical input as needed.

Requirements:
  • 1-3 years of construction management experience and estimating for finish carpentry.
  • 2 or 4 year degree in construction management preferred.
  • Proven ability to understand scopes of work and accurately estimate projects.
  • Finish carpentry experience, ability to understand the work.
  • Ability to read and understand Architectural plan sets.
  • Technical understanding of residential and construction codes and best practices.
  • Ability to gather information, prepare reports and communicate effectively.
  • Experience with complex and high end projects.
  • Demonstrable experience and passion for client satisfaction.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Experience with bidding AI platforms.
  • Must successfully pass a background check. The position is contracted but will be a full time load.
