POSITION SUMMARY:
The Accounting Clerk supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This part-time position supports the Administration team by performing a variety of clerical, recordkeeping, and customer service tasks to assist with the smooth operation of the organization's accounting needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Perform data entry and filing tasks for accounts payable, purchase orders, equipment inventory, and confidential employee or departmental files.
  • Manage childcare billing function; monitor financial status of childcare programs and member accounts.
  • Process periodic childcare billing including posting of payments and credits to member accounts and posting of CCDF grant revenue; assist parents with CCDF accounts.
  • Pursue collection of unpaid childcare bills; contact parents to discuss and remedy.
  • Contact customers to obtain, verify, and update account information when necessary.
  • Maintain administration office supply room inventory including monitoring inventory, ordering additional supplies when needed and processing department supply orders.
  • Support the Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable Specialist by serving as the back-up.
  • Perform general bookkeeping work, which may include entering data and maintaining records, invoices, and supporting documents of amounts due for items purchased or services rendered.
  • Copies, collates, and otherwise prepares reports for mailings, meetings, and other correspondence.
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations. Obtain and maintain required training(s).
  • Accept additional assignments as deemed appropriate, within the scope of the job description.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience required.
  • Intermediate user of computers and software programs.
  • Strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Basic understanding of clerical procedures and systems such as recordkeeping and filing.
  • Ability to work independently and identify and solve problems.

SALARY:
Minimum starting rate of $17 an hour
Starting rate based on experience
