Summary
A successful candidate will play an active role in the City of College Park's existing operational success. The purpose of the position is to assist parking operations with cashiering and basic parking operation duties.
Essential Functions
Independent judgment is required to identify, select and apply the most appropriate of available guidelines and procedures as well as interpret precedents. This position is responsible for operating and maintaining the parking facility at the Georgia International Convention Center and Gateway Center Arena parking facilities.
  • Calculates and collects parking fees using computerized parking equipment.
  • Issues change and receipts to customers as appropriate.
  • Responds to information and requests by the public while maintaining a positive image; solves problems when possible.
  • Directs traffic to available parking or exits during busy events.
  • Directs deliveries and service vehicles.
  • Maintains cleanliness of parking attendants booths including sweeping, cleaning windows, and picking up trash.
  • Completes the attendant's shift report and other required paperwork.
  • Stores cash receipts and transaction records at the end of shift.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that logically relate to the position.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of event-related and departmental procedures established by the GICC and arena.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of parking operation procedures, traffic flow issues, and traffic safety procedures and laws.
  • Skill in basic office skills and practices including the use of office equipment to include calculator, personal computer, copy machine, and money counting equipment.
  • Ability to count money, calculate and issue change, and complete required reports.
  • Ability to give directions to the public.
  • Ability to use discretion and exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to work in a seated or standing position for continuous periods as well as extensive walking.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Effective analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, and time management skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse constituents.
  • Attention to detail and adaptability to a changing environment is extremely important as well as dependability.
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, initiative, resourcefulness, and personal accountability.
  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling objects of average-weight up to fifty (50) pounds, standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) to two (2) years of cashier experience preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong organizational, supervisory, and communication skills.
  • Experience in communicating with diverse communities, and in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, as well as knowledge and understanding of the organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.
  • Extensive hours and weekends will be required at times.
