Responsibilities

The Accounting Supervisor will be responsible for assisting the Accounting Manager in meeting GL Accounting functions. Ensures the financial statements are presented fairly and accurately in accordance with GAAP. Responsible for oversight of general ledger accountants, account reconciliations and journal entry processing to facilitate month end close.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist Accounting Manager in monthly financial analysis, yearly budgets and budget to actual variance analysis, and various special projects.
  • Assist Accounting Manager to ensure adherence to Accounting Policies and best practice internal controls.
  • Act as accounting liaison with other hospital departments in regards to GL related accounting.
  • Oversee all general ledger activity for the hospital system including the coordination and supervision of month end close, preparation/review of account reconciliations, maintenance of the general ledger and general ledger accounts.
  • Develop and monitor month end close performance through relevant metrics, while working to continuously improve the close process.
  • Monitor and record journal entries to ensure the accuracy of account balances.
  • Assist Accounting Manager in the preparation of annual financial statement, benefit plan and A133 audits, and in the completion of various annual surveys and reports.
  • Support the Accounting and Financial Planning teams to enable Accounting to reconcile, analyze and develop usable metrics that accurately connect financial performance to operational statistics.
  • Directly assist in analysis of cash/treasury/investments functions as directed by management. 
  • Qualifications

    REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university.
  • Excellent supervisory, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Minimum of 5 years total experience in related field.
  • CPA License, which must be maintained.
  • PREFERRED:

  • Not-for-profit and healthcare experience
  • Working knowledge of a computer spreadsheet program.
