Staff Accountant
Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000
West Atlanta, GA

Why This Role
We’re partnering with a well-established organization in the Atlanta metro area to hire a Staff Accountant who will support day-to-day accounting operations and partner closely with the Controller and CFO. This is a great opportunity for a Staff Accountant looking to build a strong foundation, gain exposure across accounting functions, and grow within a collaborative finance team.

This Staff Accountant role is well-suited for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to contribute to month-end close, reporting, and continuous process improvement.

Core Accounting Responsibilities

  • Record daily cash transactions and prepare journal entries
  • Perform monthly general ledger reconciliations
  • Assist with preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Analyze expense accounts and research variances
  • Support special projects and ad hoc assignments

Month-End Close & Reporting

  • Prepare journal entries including accruals, prepaids, and payroll entries
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations, including inventory, A/R, A/P, and due from factor
  • Help prepare budget-to-actual reports for departments
  • Set and communicate month-end close and reporting deadlines
  • Support audit preparation and responses

Fixed Assets, Leases & Compliance

  • Assist with fixed asset and lease accounting
  • Support Census Bureau reporting requirements
  • Maintain accurate supporting documentation and schedules

Treasury & Cash Management

  • Serve as a main contact for treasury-related activities
  • Calculate and enter wire transactions
  • Prepare daily cash reports and cash flow forecasts
  • Respond to factory inquiries and audit confirmation requests
  • Assist with loan borrow base calculations

Process Improvement & Support

  • Assist in maintaining accounting policies and procedures
  • Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and trend analyses as requested

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • 1–5 years of accounting experience in a Staff Accountant or similar role
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles
  • Experience with ERP systems; Great Plains experience is a plus
  • Intermediate Excel skills strongly preferred
  • Proactive mindset with strong communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
