Riverside Medical Group is currently seeking a (LABOR POOL) Academic Hospitalist to join our team at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia.
This Physician shall serve as Faculty Hospitalist for the Riverside Internal Medicine Residency Program on a labor pool basis.
Physician shall render professional services in the specialty of Internal Medicine for Riverside's Hospitalist/Internal Medicine Department and provide care to hospitalized patients on inpatient units while supervising the training and education of house staff and medical students.
What you will do
  • Serve as a role model for future generations of physicians by demonstrating compassion, commitment to excellence in teaching and patient care, professionalism, and a dedication to lifelong learning.
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in educating residents to become practice-ready, while providing appropriate levels of supervision to promote patient safety when responding to the need of patients, residents, community, and the institution.
  • Participate in recruitment, interviewing and selection of potential residency candidates for the Internal Medicine Residency Program
  • Advance residents' knowledge and practice with scholarly approach to evidence-based patient care through case studies and quality improvement.
  • Create an effective learning environment conducive to educating residents in each of the ACGME Competency domains by fulfilling supervisory and teaching responsibilities through timely completion of resident evaluations and real-time feedback.
  • Participates in the Clinical Competency Committee, annual program review as Chair or member of the Program Evaluation Committee, implementation and analysis of the outcome of action plans developed by the Program Evaluation Committee and significant participation in recruitment and selection, including efforts related to the program's commitment to diversity. Pursues faculty development designed to enhance skills at least annually.
  • Advising, mentoring, and coaching residents (co-creating, implementing, and monitoring individualized learning plans)
  • Designing and overseeing remediation plans
  • Supporting/Overseeing residents in the development/assessment of quality improvement/patient safety projects
  • Supporting/overseeing resident in the conduct of their scholarly work, including the dissemination of such work through presentations, posters/abstracts, and peer-reviewed publications
  • Significant participation in educational activities (didactics, lab, or simulation)
  • Overseeing faculty development for the program's faculty members

Qualifications
Education
  • Doctoral Degree MD/DO, Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine (Required)

Experience
  • Successful completion of residency or demonstrated experience in medical specialty (Required)

Licenses and Certifications
  • Physician License (MD) - Virginia Board of Medicine Upon Hire (Required)
  • Drug Enforcement Administrator (DEA) - United States Drug Enforcement Administration Upon Hire (Required)
