Part 135 Flight Dispatchers often manage on-demand or charter flight operations, which can involve rapidly changing schedules and last-minute client requests. This requires strong adaptability, quick decision-making, and excellent communication with flight crews, maintenance, and operations teams. Additionally, they must ensure strict compliance with FAA regulations specific to Part 135 operations, which can differ significantly from those for scheduled airlines. The role often involves irregular hours and the need to coordinate logistics across multiple time zones.

Familiarity with flight planning software, weather monitoring tools, and operational control systems is essential for daily tasks. Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills help dispatchers coordinate effectively with flight crews and manage unexpected situations. These abilities are vital to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant flight operations under FAR Part 135 regulations.

What is a Part 135 flight dispatcher?

A Part 135 Flight Dispatcher is a certified aviation professional responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring flights operated under Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) Part 135, which covers on-demand and commuter operations such as charter flights. Dispatchers ensure each flight is conducted safely by analyzing weather, routing, aircraft performance, and regulatory compliance before releasing flights. They work closely with pilots and operational staff to provide ongoing support and may assist in emergency situations or flight diversions. Their role is critical for both safety and regulatory adherence in commercial and private charter aviation.
