Job description

Spaulding Academy & Family Services provides a place of healing and growth, with a focus on the whole child. Our approach is student centered and trauma informed with special emphasis on social and emotional learning through programs such as Choose Love. Our classrooms are small, with 8 to 10 students and a variety of ages in a non-traditional learning environment. Ours is a professional learning community, collaborative and open, with specific emphasis on staff development and growth in an environment focused on the value of each individual’s strengths, skills and experiences.

Our Academic team has Paraeducator opportunities available in our year-round program. Our students range from ages 4 to 21. Classrooms are small with manager support, peer support, as well as wrap around services such as OT, PT and SLP’s. Each person is engaged in contributing toward our goal of providing a strong foundation to support our students, who face a variety of challenges, to achieve the most successful outcomes. We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package, as well as a Monday through Friday (7am to 3pm) schedule.

Requirements for the Paraeducator role includes:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with at least 2 years of direct experience as a Paraeducator l, or two years of college for a Paraeducator 2
  • NH Paraeducator certification is preferred, but we will assist you in achieving the certification within 3 months of employment
  • Special education experience is not required, but is very beneficial
  • Applicants must be 21 years of age

Knowledge and skills:

  • Must have the ability and desire to teach special education students using learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth
  • Ability to teach multi-age, multi-grade, multi-subject.
  • Must be creative, participative and have excellent communication and customer service skills
