TITLE: USS Compliance Monitor

SUMMARY OF OPPORTUNITY:

We are looking for a Compliance Monitor who will positively impact student success by planning, carrying out, evaluating, and supervising IEP compliance activities. Our Central Compliance Monitors play a key role in ensuring that students receive individualized educational programs with access to high quality specially designed instruction. As a member of the Unified Student Supports Team, you will receive excellent benefits, opportunities to grow within your role and the organization, and collaborative and supportive colleagues who put students first.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

The following outlines what your core duties and responsibilities will be for this position and provides a sample overview of what your day-to-day may look like.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

•   Conducts new teacher onboarding for IEP writing;
•   Informs building-based special education staff and administrators of the timelines for Individual Education Plan (IEP) development, annual Case Reviews, Evaluations, Re-Evaluations, Move-In Conferences, Manifestations, Case Conferences, and Progress on Goals;
•  Conducts regular IEP audits to ensure compliance with federal and state law, as well as District special education policies and procedures;
• Manages the status of the Special Education Database, including updating the Special Education Placement Screen daily;
•  Facilitates the District's special education Child Count;
• Monitors Federal Special Education Indicators;
• Sends regular compliance updates to building-based special education staff to identify compliance priorities (i.e. evaluation timelines, move-in conferences, etc)
•  Monitors student STN's requests;
• Manages IIEP system and permissions for their school assignments;
• Provides direct support to schools through workshops and office hours on a regular basis;
• Maintains and completes reports as requested by the District USS Department
• Collaborates with the Special Education Learning Community Director to determine compliance-related professional development and training needs;
• Attend professional meetings, write reports and maintain records
• Other duties as assigned

“Day In the Life” Overview

On a regular day, as the Central Compliance Monitor, you might:

●      Prepare compliance reports for your assigned Learning Community

●      Support students in reaching their individualized education plan goals and standards

●      Support Teachers of Record with IEP components; ie: goal writing, service provisions, present levels of performance

●      Provide direct, explicit training for new special education teachers

●      Attend PLC or IEP meetings

●      Keep compliance records and data tracking up to date

●      Prepare for and attend RDA Meetings for your Learning Community

●      Conduct IEP reviews

●      Work collaboratively with other staff

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS

●      Bachelor's Degree in Education (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university

●      At least three (3) years of successful teaching experience

●      Valid Indiana Teaching License in Special Education

●      Working knowledge of federal and state special education laws, rules, and practices including IDEA and Article 7

●      Broad knowledge of Indiana and IPS special education policies, practices and programs
